Ordered 1,000 rounds of 9mm 124 gr FMJ Canned Heat on Sunday 5/24. Surplus .50 Cal can with the 9mm filling ~ 2/3 of the can arrived Friday 5/29 by UPS. Cost, including shipping, was 26.4 cents/round. Pretty good service. Years of good results with their .38SP and .45ACP makes me confident this 9mm will serve well for training.

As for my earlier statement that a few hundred rounds is not enough for planned training: Upcoming informal competition day instructions are to bring 300 rounds, and for follow on mid-level tactical training the next month bring 400 rounds.

I was in one of my local gun stores a week ago and they had plenty of ammonia all calibers. I reload so I didn’t pay attention to price but the shelves were full of boxes.

I live close to Buds and Smoky Mountain Guns And Ammo and went to SMGA the same day and they had plenty of 50 round boxes of everything. I didn’t look at prices or if they had bulk but they had 50 round boxes in quantity.

Buds is a block away from SMGA but didn’t visit them.

Folks , I got a feeling that 9mm - and other popular calibers - is about to go scarce again.
Uncertain times tend to lead to such shortages.

    9mm Availability ...
    Hope I'm wrong.

Sadly, you are probably not wrong. Something to consider: all of the untrained new owners are likely to horde FMJ training rounds, and may or may not add some JHP SD rounds to their purchases. Meanwhile, THR member types must be sure to have enough SD ammo on hand to practice with it occasionally, in addition to our SHTF store.
(Darn... now I need to order more ammo.)

On Mon I rechecked out the Bass Pro in Port St Lucia FL and virtually all handgun ammo, buckshot, and 223/7.62x39 was gone.

Only pistol shotshells, 22lr and 17 rim fire, a handful of 40S&W, and a bunch of 454 was available

I was at my local BPS in Tampa on Friday. They actually had some scattered boxes of 9mm. They still had a small pile of Herters 100 rd bulk packs for $17. Only bought 2, kinda regret not getting more now. Im sure at this point its all gone again

Yesterday the firearms counter at the local Air Base Exchange had a few boxes of 9mm FMJ, but no 9MM SD rounds. The clerk said they could not order anything, but had to depend on what was shipped in.

I ordered some Speer Gold Dot LE from Targetsports last week, it was 20 bucks a box of 50. Figure that was a decent deal. But now, the shipment is "delayed due to civil unrest".
Apparently it got caught up in the Chicago area... we'll see what happens. I'm wondering if that's code for "your package was lost due to looting".

You can be sure prices aren't going to go down and supplies are going to continue to be limited. We're still in the coronavirus pandemic with spikes still to come. We're still in major civil unrest with the entire summer to go. Hurricane season is starting and in November we have a Presidential election with Biden currently leading Trump. All this leads to major gun sales and very limited supplies of ammo. Buy while you can!!!

    Quoted for truth!

If Biden gets elected, he's already promised to appoint a Gun Czar who has sworn to confiscate all "assault rifles" from Americans. It's going to get very ugly.

I think panic buyers will be too broke to keep buying ammo. Have you looked at the economy lately, and the downward spiral we are in? Food or ammo.....

It's for this reason alone people should have at least a rudimentary reloading setup. Even a $100 Lee press is going to be able to make you ammo that you otherwise would not be able to buy. Who cares if it takes a hour to make a 50 round box of ammo, it beats nothing. Doesn't mean that a person must reload for every caliber they own, just what they shoot most, and for most that would be 9mm and 5.56.

OMG..ok, tell me how you do that? 15-20 MILLION 'AR' rifles, depending on how you define it..AND 650,000 MACHINE(fully Auto) guns..Not the political will, resources, manpower, money to 'confiscate' all ANYTHING from 'Americans'. PLUS..a federal data base is illegal BY LAW..so please..vote early and vote often, support those who you wish but this sensationalist rhetoric wears me out....

Does he support a AR ban like the one in 1994(with grand father clause), UBC, RFL, 21yo min age? Yes..(gee, so does trump, depending on whos behind the camera) BUT 'confiscate'!!!..nope.

Well, two months ago, I never thought I'd see Americans getting arrested for going to church. So the idea of the next President issuing an executive order banning the ownership of ARs is not exactly beyond the realm of possibility. The world has gone mad.

Canada just did a massive ban. VA is on its way to a massive ban.

It's doesn't matter is the ban is practical or even possible, they will do it and make millions of Americans felons overnight.

    Then it just become attrition.

Apples and oranges..getting sick, then getting others sick..it has nothing to do with 'church', the first amendment..it's about getting people sick who could then DIE.

Fine and dandy and I expect that will be on the table..it depends on the Senate makeup..BUT 'CONFISCATE'...c'mon..
BTW-It won't be an 'Executive Order'..those don't carry the weight of a 'law'..this would have to be a law, signed by the POTUS...

The world is a mess right now...
First Canada isn't the US(2A), plus Canada has the population of a couple of large US cities. 2 year amnesty also plus a 'buy back' program which will NOT be mandatory.

BAN does not equal 'confiscate'..and VA 'on it's way'?..political rhetoric does not a law make..OBTW-maybe next election cycle, in VA, don't have 30 seats go uncontested by a GOP candidate..eh?

We should steer this away from politics, but yeah, the current climate isn't conducive to low prices. I think we can all see that. I'm watching my UPS tracker, just wanting to see if/when my order shows up at the next hub (which would be Memphis I think); I wonder if UPS or Targetsportsusa would reimburse if lost? That was a $400 order, as I bought a case of Gold Dots on sale. It was a good deal, but that's also a big hit if the order is gone.
