Hi Ya All,
I started seperating brass and culling the dud brands as a way to keep down my ftf, ftload experiences .
I have identified so far WCC is crimped primer, I discard these.

But I have a number of brands I cant decipher; any idea what is:-
CBC
PPU
TZZ
Geco
*I*
L Y 92
GFL

and whether I should reload these together with my good WIN, FS, PMC etc.?

much obliged,

Max

Win/WC/WCC = Winchester (trouble seating primers in WC/WCC crimped/unbevelled primer holes)

F.C.= Federal

*-* = Starline

CBC = Magtech

GFL = Fiocci

PMC = PMC out of Korea

PPU = Wolf & Monarch-Prvi-Par%&^%$

R&P= Rem (Remington-Peters)

UMC =Rem "value' brand

Midway = edit: whoever is Contracted to Midway--was Win--has been Star Line.

* l * = ?? (don't find many of these)

TZZ = Israeli

Geco = Dynamit Nobel/German

Blazer= CCI (Not the same cases- are bevelled different above the base.
S&B= Sellier and Bellot (WARNING: Some of their cases look like brass but are plated Steel) (Test with magnet)

Large Company "ATK" makes Speer, FC, Blazer, and some other brass. Good brass, tends to be 'softer' than WIN, PPU, R&P

CBC= magtech (great brass)
PPU= privi (i dont know how good is it)
TZZ= NO idea (i thinks its military)
Geco= cheap line of RWS (good brass but small flash hole)
*I*= independence (mixed reviews made by CCI and Magtech)
L Y 92= No idea but seems to be military
GFL= fiocchi (good brass but tight primer pockets)

Load them just like the others ...

Hope this helps !

If it's brass, undamaged, and will grip the primer, go ahead and load it up. If in any doubt, scrap it.

After a while, if you do any really serious accuracy work, you'll probably start finding favorite headstamps. If you just load plinkers, headstamp will probably never matter.

I bought some fiocchi(GFL) 9x18 makarov ammunition around 5-6yrs ago, thought I could reload it down the road. 30% of the brass has VERY off centered flash holes, 40% a little off center, and the rest is pretty dang close, this makes me wounder what else is off with their brass :cuss:

I've never had a problematic brass in 9mm, other than DAG. Small flash holes. I have culled a couple A-mercs based on comments from this forum, but that's cuz I only had a couple of 'em. If I had a lot of 'em, I probably woulda loaded 'em up to see for myself.

The only thing I didn't like about R-P and Speer is they're a little thinner than the rest. And the 9mm CBC's are a little thicker than normal. But after making a custom seater plug for my bullets, this doesn't matter, either.

After cutting lots of 9x19 down to make Mak cases, I've noticed that GFL alloy is unusually hard. It chips away in little bits. The SB cases are pretty hard, too. Not that this has made any practical difference.

I have noticed some WCC being crimped. They usually load fine, anyway. But if not, I just cut out the crimp and continue on. But that's cuz I have a single stage press. I imagine these cases would be a big pain on a progressive!

Hey Corder, We shoot Steel Madness. And are allowed to pick up whatever we find. Consequently, and due to the nature of the matches I never get back the same stuff. But mostly get more than I have shot. Also my home indoor range allows us to pick up brass, same story. I wouldnt have it any other way, why should I leave $2. # brass laying all over the place?
Thanks for asking,

Max
