You probably have all seen the graphic on plonking where the cartridge should be shorter or even with the projection from the breech side of the barrel.

My CZ-75B headspaces longer than that projection that I think is called the hood.

Even an empty case of 9mm .744 extends beyond it. I am curious if anyone can verify that CZs work that way. My brass is between the SAAMI .754 max and .743 and I never have a problem. I taper crimp to .379.

Commercial Blazer 9MM extends also. Everything loads and fires consistently.

I have a Original CZ-75, I can check it, not the same as the 75B, but maybe close..

WOW, My CZ-75 has the same as your photo. Yours is cleaner than mine... Guess I know what I need to do today..

Good Luck
Dan

That "hood" is not for headspacing, but for indexing the barrel to not twist much when the bullet engages the rifling. And i it can work perfectly without it.

I discovered the exact same thing in my CZ 75B in .40, and had the same concerns as you. It was a departure from my other semi-autos and it took me awhile to disregard. But trust your OAL when you drop your cartridge in and give it a turn to verify it is chambering correctly.

Only if "hood" does not line up with the breach wall face.
It does line up, but it does not touch it. At that point of contact the CZ75 headspaces on the back of the chamber, resting on the breech face wall. BTW, 1911 also headspaces that way - there must be a gap between hood and breechface. No matter how small one chases it, it is still a gap, therefore the gun cannot headspace on it.

The breech face is recessed under the hood contact point. Sigs are like that too. Take a look at the slide/chamber lockup. It will become clear to you.
