So i decided to try some Extreme Plated 9mm bullets. I got the 124gr RN bullets. I use Bullseye for 9mm FMJ so i want to work up a load for these plated bullets with Bullseye.

Lyman 48 says for 130gr FMJ 3.6-4.5gr
Lee says 3.9-4.4 for XTP
Alliant says 4.4 for GoldDot

So i know 3.x of bullseye won't cycle my Glock, so i'm thinking of loading 10 rds each at 4.1, 4.3 and 4.5

Thought on my approach?
Anyone else out there use these extreme bullets and bullseye?

Start with midrange lead data, not low end lead data.

I shot the same bullet with N330 and and shoot the 124 Gr HP with N320. It takes high end jacketed data (By the Vihtavuori 09 PDF) to get them to 1075ish for the RN and 1050ish for the HP.

They both shot really well for me. 1050ish is soft shooting and the brass piles up at my feet out of my Colt 1911.

Thanks - i will look a mid range lead data and see what i come up with.

Lyman #49 lists:
120 gr lead RN OAL 1.065" Start 3.4 gr (939 fps) 23,600 CUP - Max 4.2 gr (1175 fps) 32,500 CUP

120 gr lead SWC OAL 1.110" Start 3.8 gr (1047 fps) 28,400 CUP - Max 4.2 gr (1124 fps) 31,200 CUP

I would start with 4.0/4.1/4.2 gr and see how the accuracy is then try 4.3 gr.

I'm shooting 124 grain plated bullets from Precision Delta. I'm using 4.4 grains of BE with an OAL of 1.12. The performance is fine out of a Glock and a BHP.

Precision delta bullets are not plated, they are full metal jacket.

X-Treme 124gr over 4.2gr BE @ 1.15 COL works in the G26 G19 & G17L.

I like HP-38 / Win 231 & Power Pistol better in the 9mm if you can find it.

The nice folks at Xtreme told me to use Speer's jacketed data when using their bullets. Their website says, "Our Copper Plated Bullets can be run at mid-range jacketed velocities or higher end lead velocities. We do not recommend velocities over 1500 FPS (Feet Per Second) and only a light taper crimp. Any velocities over 1200 FPS we recommend either our Heavy Plate Concave Base or Hollow Point products for superior accuracy."

With their 124gr RNs I've been using Power Pistol of late. I've had good results with N350 and 3N37 too. Bullseye, while it will work, is not the best suited powder for 9mm. Use Speer's data and you will be fine, it is the same data Alliant publishes now too. Any safe load of Bullseye is not going to exceed 1200 fps. You will probably get better results with a slower powder better suited to 9mm pressure ranges though. I'm seating their bullets to 1.135". That's were the start of the ogive is right at the case mouth. Any deeper and you will not have full bullet shank diameter at the case mouth and you won't get a good taper crimp.

Agreed - but a few months ago I could not find HP38/231 at all but i was able to pick up 3lbs of Bullseye - so i grabbed it. I love the Bullseye for 38 special. Next time i see an 8lb jug of HP-38, it's mine.

They don't have 8lb jug but a bunch of 1lb bottles if you're interested. HP 38 is one of my favorite powders.

My pet load was 124 FN Hornady with 4.2 gr BE. Ran them for over 10 Yrs.
Pushed about 1150 fps, so you should be fine.

I've started to use X-treme plated 124 FN now
Bad thing is can't fine any BE so I'm trying HP-38

I'm going to use 4.2 BE for the plated and 4.4 BE for the FMJ. Once the BE is gone, i'll try HP-38.
