The higher the pressure the shorter the gun's life. If 9mm isn't enough then get a 40 or 45. Remember that the most critical thing is bullet placement !
I think you are correct on that..from what i read about it, you only get about 100fps more than the +p...it's not enough to beat up a good gun for. As Mete stated, the key is placement.
I remember years agoâ„¢ when gun writers and reloaders both agreed that trying to squeeze a few extra fps wasn't worth distressing your gun.
Fast forward a decade and the ammo companies are pushing the limits and calling it +P+ and people are flocking to buy it and reloaders are trying to get every furlong per fortnight of speed possible.
If 1225 fps won't get the job done 1226 won't either.
Since there is no pressure standard for +P+ ammunition, it is IMPOSSIBLE to answer this question without knowing the particular brand and load of ammunition. There is definitely some "+P+" ammunition on the market that is not considered safe in ANY pistol.
The only way to determine if this is safe is to contact the ammunition company to get the pressure spec and then call the gun manufacturer to see if the pressure spec is within the design limits of the gun.
