9mm Powder

I also like Power Pistol, but I've never tried the Winchester powders. Just never really had a need to.

I've been using Bullseye for 9MM for a long time and feel it produces excellent loads.

I'm looking for good all around performance with LOW bulk!

Tite Group!!!!!!!
4.1 grains with a 124 gr JHP will get you ~1050-100 fps.
Economical because of the low charge weight & they claim it's not sensitive to the position in the case.

My own tests say it's a tiny bit sensitive, but not so's you'd notice if your not chronographing 'em.

So, with that in mind. What are your suggestions for a target/plinking possibly USPSA load with 124 grain lead bullets, 115 jacketed bullets, etc...

For minor power factor loads Vit n320 works very well and is used by many USPSA production-class loaders. (check the Benos forum).
4.0 grs will run a 125gr HP at 1040 fps.
4.1 grs for a 124gr rn at 1040

These are almost exactly 1/2 a 9mm luger caseful of powder. Can't double fill, but plenty of room for seating.

Runs cool, as a SINGLE BASE powder it burns clean at LIGHT LOADS which only a very few do, not temp sensitive, meters very accurately with the very small rod shape, zero muzzle flash. Also works for 40S&W and 45ACP light loads.

Costs approx. 1 cent more per round to load than 231/HP-38, and worth every penny.:D

I too grew weary of spillage and tried many other powders. Current I'm working my way through four pound "kegs" of Alliant Power Pistol and Ramshot True Blue.

Once the PP is gone I'm going exclusively with the TB. TB had proven to meter very accurately in my Dillon measures, it burns exceptionally clean and gives very low shot-to-shot variances in muzzle velocity in my BHP and Glocks 17, 19 and 26.

I wish I could buy Ramshot around here. It's no where to be found.

I use mostly titegroup for 9mm but also use Universal , and Power Pistol.
But with Berry's plated bullets in the FPHB 124gr I have gone as high as 4.5gr of Titegroup. It's really hot but shot and fed really well. To hot for plated but didn't have any problems. I wouldn't recommend it anything over 4.3gr. for Berry's.
4.3 gr is hotter than Berry's say to load but I put 2k through my Ruger and have never had a problem. I loaded down to 4.0 of titegroup for a while but my PF-9 wouldn't cycle them so I went back to 4.3 and my problems went away.
I will say this, Win231 is next on my list to play with.

I have been experimenting with HS6 for 9mm and 40 s&w seems to have
a lot of potential have worked up some very accurate loads with it, it also
has good case fill to

What are you doing that spills a charge of Unique???

A max load doesn't overflow the case so something is going wrong. Single stage, turret or progressive?

Unique is one of the best performing powders you can use in the 9mm from mild to +P velocity equivalents at standard pressure.
Ah, "spill" probably isn't the best choice of wording... I load on a LnL AP progressive and every time the shell plate rotates, a couple - maybe up to 12 or so - flakes of powder kick out because of the turning and clicking into place.

My press is new, so it clicks pretty good and that may be part of the problem.

But, eventually all those flakes work their way into the ejector system or the primer system and gum things up...

FYI, here's a comparison picture of powder fill in cases.

Comparison picture below shows max charges of Unique, Universal, Promo and W231/HP-38 for 185 gr 45ACP jacketed bullet. I know the Unique charge is significantly higher at 8.2 gr but that was the powder charge indicated in the load data. 6.0 gr charge of Unique would be comparable to Universal/Promo case fill.

That's one neat thing about the Lee Classic Turret.. the case doesn't move from start to finish (except up and down) so no powder is spilled unless you're having an epileptic seizure.

I'll bite, again. AA#5,WSF,N320,N330,Sr7625(really nice powder),AA#2. That will cover most of my better ones.

Once the PP is gone I'm going exclusively with the TB. TB had proven to meter very accurately in my Dillon measures, it burns exceptionally clean and gives very low shot-to-shot variances in muzzle velocity in my BHP and Glocks 17, 19 and 26.

True Blue is an excellent powder. I consider it the ball powder equivalent of Unique in that you can load any handgun round with it.

For full power 9mm and .40 S&W, I use Silhouette. It is similar to VV 3N37 and costs much less. Meters very well, burns clean and is probably the lowest flash powder you can buy as it has a flash inhibitor.

Like many here I have 231 on the shelf that doesn't get used much since I switched to ZIP. Very much like 231 but with a little better performance range and it burns cleaner. It will work very well for lower case fill loads in 9mm, .38 Special target loads and light to full power .45ACP loads. My 200 gr. SWC load using ZIP will shoot one hole groups at 50'. ;)

If you are spilling Unique, your press is the problem not the powder. I would check with the manufacturer as it should not do that. But putting that aside, WSF, Universal and Bullseye have been great for me.
