9mm projectile selection

I am new to 9mm reloading and I had a question about it. I will be reloading for a Glock19 and have Power Pistol powder. I can get 1000 124gr Berry's for $87 or I can get 1000 115gr Speer TMJ's for $95. Is one of these better than the other or more recommended?

try powder valley. they have the 115 rn berrys for around 62.00 a thousand. they have worked fine for me. If you are just looking for go boom bullets.

I have used 165gr Berry's in my XDm40 but didn't know if they would have an issue in a Glock. I also have a local place here I can get 124gr Berry's for around $87 but didn't know if it would be worth paying the $10 difference for the Speer.

If you don't know which you like, then I would tell you to buy 500 of both 115 and 124gr and see for yourself. There is a noticeable difference in recoil and accuracy. Why put all your eggs in one basket ?

Easier to price things from Graf & Sons. Their price includes shipping on sales over $50.

When I ordered 1000 of the berrys 115gr from powder valley, freight charge was $10. They were delivered two days after I placed the order.

I have good luck in my CZ-75B with 115 Gr FMJ over PowerPistol. 124 Gr's aren't bad either with a slightly lower charge of PP. If have to pick between the two, I would go with the 115Gr if you are loading for target shooting or plinking. I don't think there is much velocity lost by going with the 124Gr. I would pick a powder charge toward the upper end of the load data. In my experience, the 9mm performs better at higher velocities.

Cool, thanks for the responses. I have the Berry's local and then I have a reloading guy I use that comes through town every couple of weeks and I pretty much always get a better deal with him so I think I will go with the Speer 115's plus I don't have to get 1000 from him so that way I can get some of those and order a smaller order of the Berry's to check them all out.

Another one to look at is Precision Delta, 74/k for 115gr and 77/k for 124gr.
Theyre who I went through last time and am happy with them thus far. I believe they might of had a min 2k order limit though...

Since you're starting out, keep it simple. Start with the 115grs and once you get comfortable with the process and things to look out for, then try different bullets to see what your gun likes best. It will also depend on your needs. If you want relatively cheap plinking/target ammo, 115gr plated works well. If you need more accuracy, or to knock steel plates down, etc, then you may need to try heavier bullets.

PP is a good powder to start out with. You might also look into W231. Good luck and have fun, it will be an interesting journey.
