For target or range shooting, not self defense, what weight and type of bullet do you load?

This is for the majority of shooting you do.

I like either the cast lead 124 LRN "SmallBall" from MBC, or any 124FMJ.

Over 4.3 grs. Bullseye it's a very nice load for the range that also replicates most of the factory 124/124+P gr. SD rounds in feel, velocity, and POI. So it's a perfect training round as well as a fun round.

124 Gr plated, and very happy with them, but I want to try the coated ones with the newer Hi-Tek coating.

124 gr plated or lead RN for me. I don't have to push them as hard as 115 gr RN and the longer bullet base seems to help with neck tension/chamber pressures.

You didn't include any JHP's, that's about all I load.

The most common I use is probably 115 gr. JHP, but I also use 90 gr, 124 gr., and 147 gr., all JHP's. And contrary to how some feel about 147's, I run them with Longshot, and I don't have much trouble getting them out there accurately at 1100 fps..

I figured those would be self defense, cost more for general range shooting.

90% of my shooting now is with coated semi-wadcutters. My two favorite 9mm loads are a 100gr Ibejihead SWC followed by a 124gr Missouri SWC. In .45 any coated 200gr SWC will do. I really like the big clean holes SWC's punch in paper and cardboard.

Running Xtreme 124 plated and rn currently. MBC smallball is a good option too just seems i have to load too short to chamber in my cz.

5.0 HS-6 under a berrys 147 plated was my go to for a long time.

But..
now it's a tossup between 4.6 HS-6 under Hitek 147's and 3.9 gr N320 under a 124 hitek coated.

I'd have to lock the pistol into a ransom rest to tell the grouping difference.

I seem to be most accurate with all 124-125 grain bullets so that is what I load. The range I belong to requires lead only for the 50 foot indoor range so I buy from Missouri Bullet or cast my own. For other chores I use X-treme heavy plated bullets for economy. I have some FMJ surplus projectiles that I may one day load. I have in the past tried heavier bullets, 147 grain or so but they were not as accurate with any of my 9MM firearms when I shoot them at targets. YMMV

Was using the 124 gn Rainier plated Flat Point. Going to give the 115 gn hollow point a try because I hear it's more accurate.

Currently, I am loading 115 RN plated from Berry. But, I have 1000 Hornady 115 FMJ in inventory.

I may switch to 124 RN bullets in the future as I have one pistol with fixed sights that shoots low with the 115 RN bullets and it shoots about to point of aim with the 124 RN bullets.
