9mm truncated cone penetration in ballistic gel

I saw a chart where a 115 grain 9mm FMJ moving at 1078 fps supposedly penetrated at least 32 inches of ballistic gel. This same chart purports a 9mm 120 grain FMJ Truncated Cone moving at 1171 fps only penetrating 20 inches of ballistic gel. Could that be true? something sounds wrong.

The FMJ is much more streamlined design and will slip through the gel with less resistance. One of the reasons why the FMJ ball round is a poor choice for self defense.
