I want a new handgun. I love shooting but there is no room to set up reloader.
9mm appeals cheap rounds and light recoil. I currently have 2 wheel guns and a Browning Challenger. I am looking at Browning HI POWER, CZ75b and Baretta 92(m9), In this order. Browning for historical and good write ups, CZ 75 and Baretta were also given A+. I have not shot any of these. Ranges do not have Thanks in advance.....JMB

I've never shot a Hi-power, but have shot a 92 and have a CZ 85b (ambi version of 75). The 85 is very accurate and reliable, and fits my small hands fairly well, and I like the safety better than the 92. The 92 is a nice shooter too, but in my experience the edge goes to the 75/85. I think the 9mm is great also - very controllable with fast follow-up shots in any of these guns.

Have fun with whatever you decide to get!

Did I miss where the op was asking about a Glock 27? You can't go wrong with any of the pistols you mentioned. It's all about what feels more comfortable in your hand. I prefer the Beretta but like say, everyone has their own preferences.

Im sure its just that putt380 has one and takes pride in owning it. I would go with the cz if it were me. Also my hand press and two die sets take up very little space and can be set up anywhere. Just food for thought.

I agree with your choices and order of your choices.

Here is what I have so far:

And a little comparison of the two:

Browning barrel on top, CZ 85B on bottom, note that the CZ barrel is darker by design, it is a factory treatment.

7 yards, three rounds, free standing, two handed, Browning on top, CZ 85B on bottom:

My Dad recently got the Beretta and I will shot it next time I am home. I will get a Beretta sometime down the road for sure.

I would have to recommend the Hi-Power. I have have shot the 9mm (my dad's) for over 25 years, and have shot my own .40 cal version (which is nearly identical) for 17 years. Everything good about Hi-Powers that you may have heard is true. My family and I have never had any parts break or malfunction in more than 14,000 combined rounds with factory and handloaded ammo. Accuracy is scary good, and the geometry and ergo are top notch.

CZ 75 I wanted to love, due to the fact that it's internally based heavily on the Hi-Power design. It is accurate enough, but the ergonomics did not do much for me. I have pretty average sized hands, and can comfortably shoot a large Glock 21 or my tiny Seecamp 32. That said, the CZ75B has a VERY annoying beavertail safety. It was just long enough to dig into the flesh between thumb and index finger. Like Mrs. Lincoln said, aside from that, the theater show was fine.

Not a fan of Beretta 92. I know it is a reliable weapon, and it shoots accurately enough for me. It just doesn't feel right. Shot side by side with the other 9 millies I have, it seems a little on the anemic side for such a large feeling handgun. Maybe I just don't care for the slide design....

Just my $0.02

I could go either way as most here. If the ergos of the CZ aren't good enough for some might I suggest the Bul Cherokee. Basically a CZ with the best ergos of any pistol I have shot. They can be had for a good price also.

You can't go wrong with any of them to be honest. I would look at what battery of arms you prefer. The HI Power is SA, that is totally different from DA/SA or decocker. IF this is going to be a carry or even home defense weapon, then you need to pick the battery that you are most proficient with. If I had to pick, I would go with the 92FS, but then again I have a 5-didget round count with that platform. Good luck with your choice, but don't sweat it too much, you really can't go wrong.

I have both and honestly, my preference between the two seems to change daily. If I shoot the CZ, it's my favorite. If I shoot the BHP, it's my favorite that day. If I could only pick one it would be a very difficult decision.

I love the ergos of the BHP more than anything I've ever held. I love the capacity of the CZ however. I love the SA action of the BHP, but I love the DA/SA of the CZ......Blah, blah, blah....

Both are great in their own way. Shoot them both and buy the one that tickles your fancy more than the other.

Never fired the CZ and never cared for the Beretta but even though I have a couple of 9mm already (Glock 17 and 19), I am constantly fighting the urge to pick up a Browning. My brother has one and its just a great gun that I love to shoot. Of course, all three that you listed are solid choices, so much of it comes down to which feels better in your hand and which you can shoot better.

Basing this on new gun prices...I would grab a cz-75b and probably in SA if it is going to be a range gun, then buy some sights and such with the rest of the money.

Hell for the price of a high power, you can order it from CZ custom with modifications.

Okay, look at the OP's name. If he doesn't go with the BHP, he (himself!) is gonna' roll-over in his own grave. I like the CZ75. I respect (but am NOT FOND of) the Beretta 92. And the BHP? It's (IMHO) the sweetest all-metal 9mm in the known universe. Theres's a reason why they're not cheap. It's because they're not...cheap!

All valid points

I just have a need to buy a CZ

As long as we are in the range, I'd throw an STI Trojan 9mm into the mix

Of your choices, I'd go with the CZ or Browning. If you were willing to expand your options, I'd look at the Ruger SR9, I own one and in my opinion the are awesome, and look at the S & W M &P line as well as some of the Glocks and SA XD -XDm choices.

I have fired all three fairly extensively. Fired the Beretta M-9 / 92FS the most. I personally believe that the Browning Hi Power is the overall better option if I were to own / shoot / carry just ONE of the pistols mentioned.
BHP just fits! It is amazingly accurate. I would never part with mine. It is a rugged platform that performs.

I've got both the CZ75 and the Beretta. Both are great guns. I haven't got to shoot a Hi Power so I can't comment on that side of the picture. But the reputation among the present and past owners pretty much speaks for itself.

You're obviously a dyed in the wool hammer gun sort of guy. Of the 9mm hammer guns I've tried the only other which I like as much as the CZ and Beretta was the Baby Eagle/Jericho. Which, oddly enough, is another CZ clone.

My other 9's are a CZ Shadow and a recently gotten 1911 in 9. If you are considering getting into the IPSC scene it's hard to find a better gun for Production than the Shadow. If you're looking at IDPA then the Shadow is marginally too heavy. But then the 75b or an older pre-b 75 shines.

Mind you a 1911 in 9 is sure darn sweet. And with some Tripp Research 10 round mags you're not giving up anything. An STI Spartan in 9 would put one heck of a grin on your face.

A more pricey but superb option is an STI Ranger II in 9. It's a commander length version which just seems tailor made to go with 9mm rounds. I've shot one that the rental range has and it balances in the hand superbly and is truly a tack driver.

In the end you cannot really go wrong with any of these if they fit your hand. Its all about which one fits better and which you like better. There really is not loser in the bunch and there is no way for us to tell you which the best one for you over the internet.

If you are more comfortable carrying a gun hammer down and in DA mode then the CZ75. If you are good with carrying cocked and locked then either one is a fine choice as the CZ can be carried in that fashion. Both are wonderfully handling guns. I feel the BHP is better suited to smaller hands as the trigger reach is shorter than the CZ (I've never measured it, it just feels that way to me.) Mags are a bit cheaper for the BHP and parts are probably easier and more plentiful to find if that matters. Whichever you choose you have made a fine choice.

I tried all three and went with a CZ75b. 90% because of the way the CZ fit my hand, and I have not been disappointed. I have several other CZ's now including the CZ Kadet Conversion that allows you to shoot .22 LR on your full size, full weight 9mm frame.
