Does anyone have any load data for 9x18 makarov using Ramshot True Blue?

Below is data from QuickLoad.

Note that this is for 93grn cast bullet of .421" length.

I would start from 5.7..5.8 grains with the bullets that I have (15BHN). Of course, you have to check with some other source to have confidence in the data.

Only 60-70% of this powder burns while bullet is in a barrel. You will see a noticeable muzzle flash with the powder.

Cartridge : 9 mm Makarov
Bullet : .365, 93, Makarov RN , Betterbul
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 0.984 inch or 24.99 mm
Barrel Length : 4.0 inch or 101.6 mm
Powder : Ramshot True Blue

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 1.754% of nominal charge.
CAUTION: Figures exceed maximum and minimum recommended loads !

I sent that question to Ramshot and this was their reply:

Caliber: 9mmx18 Makarov.

Barrel length: 4”

Powder: Ramshot – TRUE BLUE®.

Bullet weight: 95 grains. COL .980”

Start load: 4.5grains (800 – 900 Ft/p/sec)

Maximum load: 5.4grains (950 – 1050 Ft/p/sec).

NOTES:

It’ important to note that SAFETY is our prime concern therefore we strongly recommend.

1. TO ALWAYS BEGIN LOADING AT THE RECOMMENDED MINIMUM “START” LOAD.

2. If at all possible, measure the velocity and correlate with our data.

Use caution. I have not personally used this data to load any cartridges yet.

Thanks for the info. If I find some small pistol primers I will be in business!

Before the Bulgarian Maks flooded onto the market, most of the 9X18 were Russian or German. Russian ammo was only available in steel cased 120 gr slugs that chronoed closer to 1100 fps or better.

When SAAMIset the standard for the 9X18, they used the less well built pistols like the FEG. In order to keep the lower quality pistols damage and KB's, the current limits were set.

Early on, since the Russian ammo was steel and the only game in town, many reloader of the cartridge cut down 9mm Luger cases for loading as 9X18. Many of the reloaders with Russian and German Maks loaded well in excess of the then Nonexistent SAAMI max, and still do.
