Picked a used one today, got top looking around and noticed on some of the DPMS .223 that some are designated A-15 and some AR-15.

Colt held the AR-15 trademark for many years.
If somebody else wanted to make them, they had to call them something else.
The trademark has since ran out, so everyone can call them whatever they like now.

Thanks RC, When looking at Gunbroker the DMPS are listed as both A-15 and AR-15

All ironic anyway, since the "AR" meant "Armalite Rifle" before they gave up the rights to Colt in 1956.
