A .45 with a small grip?

Bersa Mini Firestorm! Good shooter with a nice grip and ambi safety/slide release all for the price of $399. Downfall is the price of spare mags. $40 each.
Wow! That's a little high of a price in my opinion!

I paid $299 NIB for mine.

Well, revolvers are out because she wants a mag-fed gun, and she just doesn't like Glocks. We hit a gun shop today and played with what they had in stock. She tried a Sig 245, and didn't really like it. Same with a Ruger (don't recall the model number). But she really liked the feel of the Bersa Mini Firestorm. That's what she'll most likely get, unless there's a compelling reason not to. Anyone have personal experience with the Bersa? Thoughts? Opinions on it?

I have handled these recently, they have a smaller grip. Nice little guns too. It's not a range gun or anything but a good protection piece.

I've had mine since last February, and it's been great to me. No malfunctions whatsoever, easy field stripping (which is GREAT if you can get her to clean her own gun :scrutiny:  ), easy to conceal, 1911-style safety lever is natural to operate, and is quite an accurate little gun.

CAT Laser also makes a laser sight that fits this gun, but it's a bit clunky for something you'd use for a personal protection piece, and most likely not necessary.

Also, holsters can be a pain to find, as there's not really a big market for the Bersas (with the exception of the Thunder .380). What I've found is that holsters for the Glock 26, 27, and 30 fit it well, depending on the holster manufacturer. Mine rides in an El Paso Saddlery hi-ride "pancake sytle" thumb-break holster designed for a Glock 30.

Also, check this site out for Bersa/FireStorm accessories. They seem to cater to Bersa owners: Your Gun Parts

Houston Holsters makes a Kydex paddle for it, model no. RP43.

Vega Holsters makes quite a few that fit it (also on the website, or since Gander Mountain carries them, they can probably order it in for you if they don't already stock it).

I got the El Paso since the guy in the gun shop had it laying around. It fit perfect, was a nice light tan leather color, and he sold it to me for $30 (MSRP is around $65, according to their website).

Any questions, feel free to PM me.

I didn't read all the posts, but have you tried the Glock 38? Isn't that .45 ACP in a Sub-Compact frame? Not too sure but I think that's what I heard. Unless they were talking about .45 GAP, which would be my main suggestion due to size of grip, but you already denoted that.

Magnum Research Baby Eagle in .45

I really like these although i just can't bring myself to buy a .45
If she wants a .45 autochucker, these are worth a shot.

.45 acps

1. Very small: (a) single stack 1911s (but you say that's out), (b) Taurus single stack .45, (c) Glock single stack .45.

2. Small: (a) Taurus double stack .45s - 24/7 & Mil Pro, (b) Wilson KZ45 double stack polymer 1911, (c) Single stack Sigs (P220 and P245) - these are not smaller than 1911s, they're a smidge bigger, and (d) Bersa Thunder .45 single stack - These are tad thickish for a 1-stack like a Sig.

3. Not-so-small but feel fairly good to me due to contours of the grip: (a) Baby Eagle, (b) CZ 97B and (c) Witness/Tanfoglio .45s.

4. Largish/Blockish: (a) Glock double stacks, (b) HK double stacks, (c) 1911 double stacks like Paras, etc., with glock being the least blockish in this category.

Your Taurus 2-stacks are your best firepower to grip size ratio, but they're a DAO action, which many do not like. What am I forgetting?...

(.45 gap - nah, I wouldn't recomend it - I predict it will go by the wayside someday).

Having said that, if the 1911, which I placed in category 1 - the smallest, doesn't work, then that calls for doing one of several things:

1. Get some thin grips from http://www.smithandalexander.com/ for the 1911, or have custom grip reduction work done ($$) - the thin grips just may be the quick & cheap fix here - S&A will treat you right, and a 1911 is a classic handgun, available in a myriad of configurations - I recommend a commander-length slide (4" bbl), with an officer's-length grip (compact grip), for concealed carry.
2. Try the 1-stack Taurus or Glock out
3. Wait for the Kahr .45 and try it
4. (dare I say it) If all else fails, Wait for the 1911s in .45 gap, coupled with thin grips - man that would be a teenintsy grip.

Option 1 probably being the best.

kind of like the current situation with korean cars, you get a lot more than you expect for the money you pay because of their devalued currency. same situation in argentina with bersa.

Do look into the Bersa .45

I find it funny all these suggestions for Glock 36 and the other supposedly small .45's. With that long trigger the benefits are nil. Para C6? Come on. Stick thin grips on a 1911 and put a short trigger in there and it's WAY better for a small hand.

How about take the lady to a store that stocks a lot of guns and have her hold them. Let HER make the decision. Most of the opinions you will read here are guys just pushing the guns they like.
