Hi shooters,

This is the next best thing in competition shooting... the NASCAR of shooting sports! ActionAirgun is the world's first global shooting league, and something you might be interested in if you're looking to practice your sharpshooting and are craving the rush of fast-paced competition.

Here is how it works: Shooters register and order an Advanced Shooting Kit from the ActionAirgun website, which includes EVERYTHING you need to play for the entire season (an all metal blowback CO2 powered 1911 style airsoft gun, timer, targets, holster, CO2, pellets, safety glasses, and target stands). Each week, shooters download Courses of Fire from the ActionAirgun website, shoot them, and upload their scores to the site. At the end of the week, all shooters' scores are revealed and you see how you stack up against the competition. Seasons last 12 weeks long.

One of the fun things about this sport is that you can play it indoors (it was created in Upstate New York, a.k.a. snow capital of the US) and it's still incredibly challenging and fun. The range is 8 x 16 feet, and can be set up in any spare room, garage, or basement, right at home.

Visit http://www.ActionAirgun.com to find out everything you need to know about the sport and how to get involved. Competition begins September 8. This is your chance to compete against the best shooters from all over the world! Everyone is on an equal playing field with ActionAirgun. The only thing that can take you to the top of the game is a sharp eye and quick trigger finger.

Check out the website and let me know what you think.

I believe IPSC and Olympic sports have been around, world-wide, for quite some time. Not to mention, these sports use actual GUNS, not toys.

Have to agree. The NRA sponsors postal matches in conventional and international disciplines where scores from shooting real guns are put up against shooters across the country. Why would I want to shoot an airsoft gun to enhance my skills with my real life 1911 Bullseye pistol?

It's not only about enhancing skills, it's about having a good time in a friendly, competitive atmosphere! This is a sport you can play with your friends, your kids, your neighbors (or as an individual) safely, all year round. How often do you get the chance to compete with shooters from across the world?

And what prevents cheating?

$300 is a whole lotta IDPA for me.

Hi Guys, I was actually one of the 100 beta testers for this. There are a couple of points the "Plant" didn't make:
because everyone uses identical equipment you only need one kit for a group... which is great if you've got a group of boy scouts or 4Hers, frat house... The gun is the same form, fit and function as the real 1911, from the grip safety to the take down it's even a gas blowback. The accuracy is very good and at 300fps it's real shooting.

Cheating? Well you've got a gun in your hand so there's hope you're honorable enough to report actual times. Second, I always shot with a group of guys who don't tolerate the "Fudge factor". Third you don't see anybody else's scores until the end of the stage.

Lastly I don't think theres a shooting sport you can get into for $360 a year, that's the kit and 3 seasons. Cost to pull the trigger is about $0.014 (less than 2 cents) I can spend that in 5 hours at the range.

Lastly lastly... It's a lot of fun and when you get beat by .01 sec it just makes you better

I think you "plants" might want to remember that this is a firearms website. If we were interested in airsoft guns, we'd have a forum just for them.

I disagree, I've been lurking here for 15 months and this is a "SHOOTING" forum. If things go well with ActionAirgun, we'll all be welcoming 100's if not 1000's of new shooters into the fraternity.

I live in upstate NY and this is how I'll be "SHOOTING" for 5-7 months a year.

Sounds like my local IPSC/USPSA matches. Even in Colorado, we shoot year round.

Let's see... Average local match has at least one Brit and one Canadian. Guys from Britain come for holiday from time to time. Big matches are full of shooters from everywhere.

everyone uses identical equipment

Great - NASCAR for airgunners. I like setting up my equipment to my preferences and shooting style.

Sounds like it might be fun, though - like shooting the little ducks at the amusement park ;). And I'll admit that Airsoft can be good training - like dry-fire, but with an honesty indicator...

The difference is that most organized shooting sports don't make their money up front off the competitors. For $30 a year in USPSA I get a magazine and membership in a truly international shooting organization. $360 and I get an airsoft gun and some targets??? How long will that gun last in "club" use before it breaks? I can expect 100,000 rounds out of my competition guns without serious breakage, only airsoft I ever had broke in a week of heavy practice.

Hrmmm. Two new posters promoting this, both with the same IP address, and it's about airsoft.

Closing this one.
