Now why would they do that right after I got done ordering my A model? What do you guys think? A or CA model? I guess the main difference would be where the front sight is mounted. After comparing the two, I think the CA model might look better without the crazy looking front sight post out on the end like the A model has. Oh well. Too late now. Off to go look at optics and 50 gr. v-max or 50 gr. TNT HPs.

That's exactly how I feel. I just bought an Alpha model but really like the features on the Charlie model. The dust cover and the threaded barrel are what attracts me most to the Charlie version. I guess that means I will just have to start saving up for another gun. Oh darn.

For me, the solution is simple. A model with B sights. Saving money saving money saving money.....

Doh! Now I'm reconsidering whether I should hold off on buying the Bravo sight upgrade and just sell the A for the CA. Dang it!!

I wonder if they'll make a DA (fore end with rails)... :D

I think I am going to skip ordering the B model sights and just get an EOTech.

I also did find my bullets at of all places Cabela's. The bulk pack of 1000 Speer .224 50 gr. TNT HPs was only like $72.95. I used to think Cabela's was over priced, but their prices are a little less or the same as Natchez and MidwayUSA, but Cablea's shipping was only $8 compared to the other two being at least $14 or more.

I hope the 50 gr. TNT HPs work as good as the V-Max. They are about $4 a box cheaper.

I really like the EOTech, but I have a hard time justifying optics that cost as much as the weapon itself to myself.

Very true. Unfortunately, I only have one firearm I could put it on right now anyway. I'll get it eventually... just need to save up more $$$. ;)

I like the longer barrel for the .223.

That's an excellent point. If the CA legal version of the SU-16C had an Alpha length barrel then it would be perfect.

Would it be that hard (given tools and talent) to cut or grind off the plastic rail and bolt on a metal one?

How hard can it be?

Will they make them in green too? I am bought one of the green guns and I really hope it comes in green too.

Also note this for us PRK SU-16 owners.
12276.1. (a) Notwithstanding Section 12276, "assault weapon" shall
also mean any of the following:
(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to
accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
(A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action
of the weapon.
(B) A thumbhole stock.
(C) A folding or telescoping stock.
(D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
(E) A flash suppressor.
(F) A forward pistol grip.
So I guess we can use it to put flashlights and lasers on, but no pistol grip. :cuss:

Yep! Goodness knows, pistol grips kill babies at night, of their own accord...

Note though that at least a threaded barrel, ON A RIFLE, is not a CA aw feature, so we can have it! (it's a feature on a pistol though.)

And no, there is absolutely no sense to the laws, other than to foster eventual total disarmerment.

My SU-16b was ~30-40 MOA off POA when I put a scope on there... ALMOST ran out of windage room trying to zero. Will test same scope with another rifle/rail, but I've heard similar reports.

So, put me down wanting a metal rail, and one that is aligned with the barrel. Too early to say what's going on here yet, will keep you posted. At least Kel-Tec is keeping things interesting with lots of new product introductions... nice folks, too. Maybe I'll call them on this.

/rambling mode off

I couldn't even zero my Shepherd V1 6-18x40mm either. Ran out of windage. Pretty big scope for this gun, but still...

Putting on a metal rail would be easy. Putting on a metal rail that DIDN'T MOVE won't :)

Guess I should just accept that this won't be a 1/4MOA gun ever :D It's quite a lot of fun otherwise with the red-dot.
