If this bill becomes law the folks that run New York will just freak... In my small opinion it has as much chance of success as all New Yorkers have of getting a decent mayor....
The fact that it's a reasonable reform and a necessary end to a whole series of injustices is entirely beside the point in that area's not so admirable politics....
One thing we are all aware of is that many gun control and knife control initiatives and laws are extremely racist and extremely discriminatory towards working-class Americans. Why is it that so many others don't seem to realize this? Do they realize it is a form of institutionalized discrimination and choose to ignore it? Or do they legitimately not see it?
They're sold the idea that "the wrong people" are the ones they're being protected from. It is easy for humans to want to point at others and dehumanize and demonize them to oversimplify our views.
