I have some firearms I am getting ready for sale for some friends and in the collection was this poor Colt Frontier Scout that was holstered wet or something. I suspect some Hoppe's and a copper brush will clean up the rust on the barrel but the aluminum frame has a sort of 'freckling'. You can feel it raised up like braille, and I don't want to scrub the adonizing off.

Any thoughts?

As always, Super-fine, 0000 grade steel wool and oil will clean the rust off the steel parts and leave what bluing is still left under the rust..

The aluminum is corroding through the anodizing.
And there is not much you can do to save that.

A light application of Flitz on a soft cotton cloth would be my best shot at it.

Vast improvement. I've never seen that happen to aluminum what causes it?

These just some blotchy spots in the blue if you angle it just right but shocked.. no pitting.

Bore is bright and shiny in spite of it being put away dirty.
