I have these as my camping/canoeing choppers, the 2 large ones are a Hudson Bay pattern by Norlund and the 2 small ones are a Plumb Boy Scout hatchet and a Craftsman carpenters hatchet.
Anybody ever heard of these Norlunds?

the heads of the 2 Norlunds, they are the same size. The left one looks bigger because of the re-handle job I did and I did not slim the handle down as much as the old one..

Very nice. People say the "West was won with ...", but the truth is that the ax is first and foremost the tool of explorers and expansion of the previous centuries.

Cut your firewood with an axe and it will warm you twice. I have one of the Plumb hatchets (at least I hope I still have it). One of our former customers used to collect throwing axes and they weren't cheap as I recall.

The Norlund used to be common. I don't know if they are still in business.

The HB pattern is ok for very light use, such as on a camping trip. It doesn't have the weight (minimum 3 pounds) or the balance for heavy, more serious work.

Please reduce the size of your pictures. The attachments would have been fine. Big pictures take a long time to load for a dial up member.
