I remember a coyote load from back in the 1980s that was absolutely amazing. I used a Sierra 90 gr. HP in a .270 win. It was pushing 3600 fps. I called in a coyote but it came in on a hill top about 250 yds. away. I got a good rest on a mesquite limb and took the shot that was up hill at about a 45 degree angle or more. My nephew was with me and said the coyote simply vanished when I took the shot, but we were both sure it was a good shot. So we hiked up the hill and couldn't find anything but a whole lot of blood. After really lost as to what had happened to him, and no blood trail, just the pool of blood and a lot of fur, we were scratching our heads until my Nephew felt something dripping on his head. He looked up and said uncle Mike, look up in the tree. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. In the large ceder tree was a totally unrecognizable mass of fur and blood. The 90 grainer had blown the coyote straight up into the tree and blown it completely apart, actually it was little more than hamburger with some fur mixed in. Ever since then I have tried to duplicate that on numerous coyotes, but can't seem to get that same angle. I have had some blow up pretty good, but nothing like what happens when they take one from the under side of the body.

Or when they come into a call from wrong direction and all you brought was your .243 loaded with 95-gr Hornady SST's,, point and shoot at 30-yds and looking right at me went thru chect cavity and blew front shoulder right off yote,,too bad he had nice dark-mark's on pelt too !! it's kinda hard to sew up a 5"-hole when most of the skin is tattered,,
