I have a problem...well, sort of.

I am supposed to go pheasant hunting with my Dad this weekend. My brother, Dad, and I always go opening weekend. But this year my brother can't make it. So it'd just be me and Dad.

Then my buddy calls and tells me that he has a deer hunt lined up. We went a few weeks ago (a first for us both) and I tagged my first buck in my first hunt.

Here's the delimma...go hunting with Dad (always a plus, because, well, he's Dad). Or go hunting with my bud. We have access to about 20,000 acres of prime deer habitat right now, which in the next few years, we will almost certainly be cut off (that's another story altogether).

What would YOU do???

Thanks,

Stinger

Stinger,

Can you invite your dad to go deer hunting with you guys? If not sorry dude but it's dads before buds. That's the law.

"Blood is thicker than..." Go with your Dad, if your buddy is truly your friend, he will understand. For that matter, maybe he'd like to go after birds this once too? I envy you, my Dad died when I was 13. We only had a few seasons to hunt together, get yours while you can.

I love deer hunting more than almost anything else, but I can't say I've ever been bird hunting. My dad doesn't hunt, but if he did I would prolly pass on the deer hunt and go with dad. You've already got one buck for the year, and there's always next season to deer hunt.

I wish my Dad was still around, so I could even *talk* to him about hunting, or anything else, for that matter.

Having said that, you decide which is more important to you.

I haven't hunted elk for several years because of time constraints. Last year my dad hurt his shoulder and couldn't lift his rifle so he didn't go with my brothers. I thought I had lost my last chance to hunt with him.

This year, he drew a permit and said he was going, so I went with them and hunted blue grouse and fished while everybody else hunted elk.

I know I would have regretted not going this year. Dad is 76 and still climbs the mountains, just a little slower than he used to.

Go with your dad.

"...it's dads before buds. That's the law..." Yep and it's a rule too. Spend evey minute you can with your da. Or you'll wish you had.

Better go with your dad and enjoy it. Dad and I use to go hunting alot years ago but we have not hunted together in 20 years or so. Yea he is still alive but his job keeps him out of town about 98 % of the time. I often think about the first hunts he took me on. The first squirrels took with that single shot .410.

Those memories with your dad will always stick with you and no one will ever take that away from you. Enjoy your dad while he is still able to hunt.
