Thanks for your answers to my question about what brand of Hawken to buy. I have a few more questions:
Does TC happen to make a Hawken for lefties? I did not see one listed on their website.
Is the Investarms version of the Hawken a good-quality replica? I have seen a used left hand one for sale recently for $275 that looks to be in great condition.
Where are the recommended places to find used black powder arms, and where do you like to buy your supplies from? Thanks very much and happy holidays to you all.

The Investarms guns are considered to be very well made guns and they are very popular. No gun maker is perfect, so there are always going to be guns made with defects.

Since it sounds like you really want a left handed gun,
here's one from Traditions and one from Cabela's:

These folks can probably help you get one, they charge $272.50 for the right handed model:

Here's the Cabela's (Investarms) gun, they have a great return policy which helps to insure you don't get a defective gun, and it's only $299.99:

The major difference between the 2 is that the Traditions has a drum and the Investarms has a patent breech. A drum has a clean out screw which not every patent breech does, not that it matters. But the Investarms guns are known for great accuracy and probably have better ergonomics for most people.

You can find used black powder guns on the major gun auction sites like gunbroker, gunsamerica and auctionarms.

Yep if you've switched from flint to percussion in your choice, then you'll probably have no problems. I prefer the drum to the patent breech plug for finding a local smith to do work, instead of sending the rifle back to the maker. I have had some problems with Traditions rifles, so I would buy the Investarms model.

You can get even more accuracy if you swap out the large, adjustable iron sights, for a fixed rear sight, and thin, silver front blade. A tang peep sight will generally give you even better results. BUT there is a difference with a rifle for the range, and one for the woods, so make your sight choice accordingly.

See my reply on your other thread too. Investarms is the company that makes the guns for Lyman. The quality is the same and a number of parts interchange. Investarms, Lyman and Thompson are all about equal in quality and accuracy. I own 3 Thompsons, a Lyman GPR and 2 Investarms Hawkens (technically only 1 since the other is a kit waiting to be assembled). I'd have a hard time picking a favorite as far as quality or accuracy. The Investarms fits me better and is a dang good looking gun, so I prefer it for that reason. None of the 3 will let you down.
