All right, two weeks ago I bought a 10/22 (my first .22 rifle) but at the time I struggled between buying a Marlin semi-auto and a Henry lever action .22. I decided on the 10/22 because of all the accessories available for it. I want to get a scope for the 10/22 but I can't my mind off the lever action. About a year ago, I went out shooting with my mom and she brought along my Grandpa's 1892 Winchester in .25-20 :)D, and yes it's not a reproduction, it's a real 1892 Winchester :D:D). After shooting that rifle, I have to say I'm in love with the leverguns. What can I expect in accuracy from the Henry rifle? If it's better than the 10/22 I might go ahead and get it. By the way, we need an emote for loving something, like a smilie with hearts instead of eyes.

Get the leveraction they are fun and my Henry H001 carbine is handy, fits me well, and shoots great. I tried the golden boy but did not like the way it fit me. Henry rifles I have heard are just fine. Mine is good as well.

Never fired a Henry, but yeah, I do enjoy leverguns, too.

Right now, the only levergun in Foggy's Artillery Locker is a Marlin 30AW in .30/30. Have had Marlins over the years in .357, .44, .45 and .35Rem

Now, back to your regularly scheduled thread...BUY THE HENRY & ENJOY!

I also have a 10/22 and an OLD Marlin 99, both semi-autos..I gotta get a .22 levergun some day...

I've got two Henrys and they're both excellent guns. LOTS of fun to shoot and I haven't had any jam problems. The lever is smooth as glass - I think that was thing that sold me on them. I tried other lever actions and didn't like the herky jerky action. Henrys have snot-smooth actions.

It depends, how do you normally shoot? Will this gun be used for defense?
I reccomend get the scope, it makes plinking way more fun. But then again, I shoot almost exclusively offhand, so YMMV.

I picked a Henry over the Ruger. The Henry is the slickest action I have ever felt. I also like using .22 shorts too something a 10/22 cannot do. Accuracy is very good with the Henry.

+1 for Henry

I got the Golden boy Henry and had my gunsmith tap the top for a scope. A mid range Bushnell and you can plink tomato cans at 100 yards. As stated above the action is extremely smooth. My only complaint about lever's is the more complicated barrel cleaning. I open the action, put the rod down the barrel, then screw a brush on by turning the rod. I pull the brush from breach to front, and its a pain to screw, and unscrew the brush for repeated strokes. The good news is it only needs to be done infrequently.

Thanks for the input. I went down to the local shops to look for a scope and check out Henry rifles to see who had a better deal when I saw a beautiful looking SKS (I've been wanting one for a while, but I didn't want a Yugo with all the stuff hanging off the barrel). So I bought the SKS, a Chinese one from Factory DP. It looks great, good bore, all matching serials. This one had some junk in it but it cleaned up pretty well, took about 7 patches to get the barrel clean though. Tomorrow it's range time with the SKS. I'll pick up the scope and the Henry next paycheck. Here's a pic:

I paid $320 for it, I don't know if that's a great price but I've seen SKS's going for more than that and this one is in good condition.
