Well, lately (last month or so) i've gotten completely addicted to Shotgunning. At least twice a week, up to 250 shots per trip. So, since it was supposed to hit 70 degrees today and was beautiful (and the next 4 or 5 days are supposed to be icky) I just snuck on out of work today and went over to the range. Now, of course, not that I planned this or anything, but it was awful handy to have my shotgun, range bag, and ammo already in the truck.
Went off to Colorado Clays to just shoot trap. Usually I go with a buddy, but a. he had to work, and b. He's been kicking my behind lately so obviously I need more practice.
Figured I would just shoot trap since they are voice activated, but the sporting clays course takes at least two people (one to push the buttons, the other to shoot). But went through the first 4 rounds of trap, getting better (brutally windy, but that's ok, practice is practice) and some other guys came up, so starting BS'ing and sharing the range with them.
So, I say, wanna go shoot clays? yeah, that's great. Not that sporting clays are tough, but, one guy (not me) was shooting low 20's in trap, he got a 19 on the clays course (really windy, and some stands are right into the sun, we just took a zero on those and moved on, and saved the extra rounds for more practice.
Set a new record for me in trap and actually won the sporting clays course between the 3 of us. one stand had the first thing just went right into the sun. So, I followed it into the sun and just pulled the trigger and looked for the 2nd half of the pair. I actually hit it 3 out of the 4 times. More proof to me that I need to stop aiming and just point. (i'll learn, maybe )
Then, at the last one (it's very pheasant like, they both go away from you low and down tree alleys). I was screwing around so i started at low ready for the first one. I actually hit it, and was laughing so hard forgot to even look for the 2nd half. Opps.
Still better than work.
Why didn't someone warn me this was so addictive?
Oh, and what the heck is the secret on Rabbits?
