When you buy a firearm from some companies, do they give you a free range case to go with it?

I only have a Century AK and it did not come with a case but I get a feeling that other companies will give you one.

I used to use the box the AK came with as a case so I can go to the range with but I threw it away and am now looking for a rifle case that'll serve multiple long guns. I want a "one size fits all" that's tall enough to house a firearm with a scope on top and long enough to comfortably hold a FAL, PSL, etc. I don't want to end up buying a new case every time I get a new firearm. But if most companies will give a rifle case as part of the package, then I don't need to search for a huge case, do I?

Most new guns come in a box. My Panther came with a generic hard case that was large enough to add a scope. Why would you a new case every time anyway? If your guns are mostly locked in the safe where they should be than you would only need to put a couple at a time in cases when you are taking them somewhere.

It depends on the company. Some long guns come in a hard case, others come in a cardboard box. Same with pistols (although most now come with a hard plastic case, many older guns came in a cardboard box).

You don't list a state, but if you live where there are Academy stores you can get a cheap hard case for about $10. They aren't the best, but they should be fine for just range trips.

My new used Rock River AR came in a beautiful blue plastic case. Trouble is, the gun is little - 16" bbl. and 6-position stock - and the case is a HUGE one-size-fits-all-RRA ARs. And the molded plastic interior requires that the gun be disassembled to fit it.

OTOH, I have 2 Doskocil rifle cases I use for everything. One is for a single gun and one's a double. OTOH#2, they're too long too.

Time to go shopping. :)

I think Doskicil cornered the market on free cases with gun purchase and I totally agree that most of the time they are way oversized for the gun that comes in them.

Sometimes they do, somtimes they don't.

Sometimes when they do, the gun sales staff needs to be reminded that they do.

Other times, during a ONEDAYONLYSUPERSPECIALMARKDOWN event, a retailer will claim that a firearm, which came to the retailer with a case from the manufacturer, does not include said case.

The long guns I have usually come in cardboard. Pistols usually have a plastic case from the manufacturer. You can pick up gun cases pretty cheap if you shop around a little. Hard cases will go for a little more, especially if it's a super-duper bombproof one like a Pelican.
