A gun is pointed at you. What next?

Sure, I understand. A couple of points, though:

1) Whatever you do, you have to "sell." If you're playing a game of some sort, you'd better be flawless and believable. Most folks aren't really that good at acting, especially under duress.

2) Criminals are often a lot better at their "job" than you are, and they've seen stuff before, and heard of it, too. Give the guy that fake wallet with the blank cards in it and a couple of $10s, and don't be too surprised when he checks... and then gets pissed.

For sure, I don't carry an extra wallet or loose money, and I doubt I will start. My point in mentioning it, was just to highlight that the experts and professionals do it.

And sometimes the point is just to let them have it. I would almost rather get in a gun fight over the stinkin' $20 than let some psychopath get away to potentially use lethal force on someone else.

The only bone of contention that I was picking at, is when the odds are really not in your favour, if its just a wallet, they are looking to split and have disguises (hankerchiefs, masks, t-shirt over their faces etc.) they are probably looking to get away without turning an aggravated robbery into a murder.

JMO, and I certainly won't knock anyone that thinks otherwise (either way, I suppose). But I would do a very quick size up of the situation, decide how far I would have to move, and how good my odds were before I commit.

Just an interesting page I found, when looking for +P+ handloads for .45 ACP. I took a snoop at the 1 shot stopping power, and for a couple of the top loads its 96%.

The page specifically deals with cop killers, and the cop killers shooting first. The cop killers were 70% effective as measured by hits landed, while the trained (supposedly anyway) police were only 40% successful.

I am not speculating on the final results, or fatalities. But on the surface it appears that of the altercations where shots were fired, the disorientating effect and/or immediate incapacitation of body armored (sometimes, or often?!) police, that the first shot advantage is rather big.

Quite a few of the officers saw signs of what was going down, but a lapse in judgment or reaction time let them down.

Well just watched a show about James Butler Hickok.

While he was the sheriff of Hays a drunk started shooting in the street.

Hickok came out of the office and the drunk go the drop on him. Yep, gun was pointed at WB and his guns were still in their holsters.

What did he do?

He looked beyond the drunk and said, "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!", and the drunk looked behind himself.

While the drunk was looking for the person WB was supposed to be talking to, WB drew his .36 Navy and shot the drunk dead.

Then WB, with his girlfriend, went back into the office!

Now there is an idea!
