She will NOT take the time to learn how to use it. Period. End of discussion. No lectures please.

Why can't people respect that?

My mom wants a revolver. Period. End of story.

I say 'good job' working within what she is comfortable with.

Kahr, I don't perceive as having a small grip or bringing anything special that the others don't have.

The Kahr 9mm pistols have very thin grips. The CT9 is a smallish full size, with a full length grip. Kahrs are striker fired, no manual safety, no magazine disconnect, and a very smooth DAO trigger, Pretty much everything you have asked for in a defensive pistol for your wife.

Short List

HGM,

I can see that a DA/SA with round in chamber and is decocked as being similar, point and shoot, to a revolver. At least for the first shot.

The problem is what if the decocker is moved to the "safe" position, or if decocker only, how do you make the gun safe again after firing it? Seems trivial sitting here at the keyboard, but, under stress these become insurmountable obstacles. She see this and she doesn't want the added complications.

Today was spent at Adventure Outdoors (Smyrna, GA). Well at least an hour. Numerous measurements taken, much to the amusement and understanding of the staff. Good news is they have over 300 guns in rental inventory for their range.

I looked at a lot of guns, including Kahr and Bersa. They had possibilities, but I had to cut off the list somewhere and one chop was by brand.

Added to the list is the Glock 43 and 42. I've been trying to reduce the sheer number of calibers of ammo at home, but if she's happy with the 42 in .380 then so be it. Compromise somewhere. Both guns have, or should have soon, extended magazines. I know the 42 is gentle to shoot from personal experience.

So the short list and their measurements. I left the G17 on there just as a starting point. If this helps anyone else then I'm glad. I really wish I could talk to Sig. I know it would mean a wholly different magazine, but I'm thinking a much slimmer grip, say 4.75", could open a significant market. And think that it could be mated with full size, carry or compact slide/barrel.

Next step is to take her to Adv Out range, we'll aim (pun intended) for June when school's out, and try as many as she wants to try. Any that the counter person recommends or any that catch her eye will also be welcomed.

Couple options of the top of my head for you.

1. Taurus PT111 G2 - Small comfy grip wrapped around 12 rds of 9mm. Handles relatively well, though it does come equipped with a safety. Has the interesting distinction of being a relatively light trigger with DA second strike capabilities. Quite affordable. Can only recommend the latest model, as that seems to have beaten the odds and been genuinely excellent.

2. Sig P320 - Available in just about any configuration you could want, with an excellent trigger and a swappable grip frame to allow finding the best fit and size for use.

3. Walther PPQ/HK VP9 - Takes the excellent ergos of a p99 and improves them. VP9 gets the added benefit of reconfigurable grip panels on 3 sides for a ton of options to get the grip just so.

I would also recommend letting her feel up a sig p225a1 or p239. While they both are DA/SA, I think that the grip alone would stand out as excellent. Find a 239 in DAK, and even that sin is removed. In 9mm, both only hold 8 rds, but the added weight and slim grips make them great feeling and very shootable.

Don't know why you got all brand exclusive and ignored Kahr.
My old E9 has a grip circumference of 4 15/16"
The TP series is the same butt just taller and longer.
