Just thought I'd post a little YouTube fun from an Autumn car shoot I went to. Some M1A/M14 purists cringe at the thought of it, but I LOVE my M1A SOCOM tucked into my Troy MCS. Any of you considering sinking your M1A into a SAGE, should seriously take a look-see at the Troy MCS....To me, it's the perfect M1A/M14 accessory, (except ammo of course)...... :neener:

Here you go: M1A SOCOM/Trijicon Tripower/Troy MCS

Heh, some very nice muzzle flash there :D

Alot of recoil for that, just imagine the original M14 in full auto, I doubt there would be any decent control on that thing.

Quick shootin', hit anything?

Yeah - it's not a tall order shooting at a Dodge pick-up truck. Actually, the SOCOM-16 muzzle brake does wonders at keeping things on target and shooting like that will keep rounds in a fairly tight space... ;)

Brentn - recoil is minimal. More of a "push" really than a sharp kick...

How do you like the Tripower? Do you have to use the battery a lot?

I've been thinking about getting one.

I LOVE the Tripower. After much testing of "The Big Three", (Aimpoint, Eotech, Tripower), I bought the Tripower for a variety of reasons - among them is the Trijicon Chevron Recticle - much easier to do precise shooting with the chevron over the dot and/or donut - (for me anyway).

My main concern about it (never having handled one) is that the battery life is so short, so if the battery has to be used in circumstances other than extreme lighting diffences, that would tend to steer me away from it.

First set of batteries lasted a year an a half and 8,000 rounds. Second set on deck with no end in sight.....

HAHAHA. Look at all the people standing around watching you. hot. Very hot.

Awesome! :D I've been waffling about getting an M1A and keep going back and forth between a standard model or the SOCOM. I think you convinced me!

Cougfan2: Don't John Kerry, (waffle) - get one! You will LOVE it.....

Mine has earned it's spot in the very front of my safe. Whether it's in a USGI Birch stock, or it's new outfit the Troy MCS, I just adore this rifle.

Well I have a SOCOM and wish I would have bought a Standard, so there.:neener:

(it's okay I'll have both soon:evil: )

I went to a machine gun shoot a few weeks ago, and they had an M-14 on the line. On auto (it may have been configured to only allow bursts, or the shooter had good trigger control), there was a LOT of muzzle rise.

A good friend of mine has a brake on his SOCOM, and I was more than a little surprised when it handled better than my heavy-assed PTR-91.

Great gun there.

My PTR91 is the hardest kicking thing I own, it's absolutely horrible compared to all the other 7.62s I've fired. Not sure why.....

My Fulton M14 is very mellow compared to the PTR.

Take the bolt out of a HK pattern rifle and hold it next to one from a M1A. Now imagine that enourmous hunk o metal slamming nto your shoulder. Top tht with the differences between roller delayed blowback and gas piston, not to mention overall ergonomics and stock design, and what you get is nasty G3 recoil.

Yup - my HK91 kicks harder - in fact it just kicks. The SOCOM moves your shoulder. I never thought the 91 was that bad until I got the SOCOM-16. Even compared to a regular M1A the SOCOM recoil is much sweeter - like I said, more of a push than a kick - especially with the Troy MCS.

The fast shooting comes from years of practice and though I'm no sharp shooter, I've become pretty proficient at keeping all rounds on target. Besides, it's just plain fun... :)

I had the pleasure of shooting a M14 in auto. Talked my chief into having us GM's shoot it and it was fun. We had one left in the armory that could go auto. We also shot M16A3's and Mark 18 Mod 0 on auto, along with throwing Mark 3A2 concussion grenades. Fun time.

Wait a minute...this is the same gun range that brought us the tacticool Mosin. I want to see the video of that in action.

It certainly is...Talk about muzzle flash! I'm sure video of that puppy exists, but I don't have it...We've got another Members Shoot coming up and if it's there - I'll get a video of it... :)
