I made a mistake that may make me get into reloading faster then I thought. I bought 100 ct Speer GoldDot 40S&W bullets thinking that they were actual rounds. So now I am stuck with 100 golddot projectiles and no brass or equipment. And I hate having useless items around

So now I really have a choice, buy rest of the reloading tools and collect some 40 brass or trade them off for brass that I actually want in the future (7.62x41). Another idea I have is find a local reloader and have him reload me some shells, who knows. What a pain I cuased myself.

Buying 100 bullets is by no means a good reason to get into reloading IMHO. If you want to- great- do it. But getting rid of 100 bullets can't be that hard.

agree now if you really want to get into reloading. you will need to first learn about it. you will need to purchase some books. like lees modern reloading or the abc's of loading. both can be purchased at www.midwayusa.com

now looking at kits a good one to get would be the lee aniversary kit. it has everything minus the dyes for the round you need.

after that you would have to buy the dyes. then powder and primers. Most of us use the same cases that we have. if you do not have empty cases you can purchase them at midway or ebay. or buy some ammo, shoot them then you have cases.

i dont think there are too many reloaders that will load ammo for you. Reloading takes time and patience same time just because i reload does not mean i can do it for you. in order to do it for another rifle or pistol i would have to have the dyes for that round. the primer and powder best suited for that round. by the way i have a bunch of empty .40 s&w cases.

don't get me wrong, getting rid of them won't be a problem. I was just using it as an excuss for soemthing that i want to do anyways :)

I will eventually get into reloading its just a matter of tiem and more money.

10 years ago I bought 100 XTP 45 ACP bullets by accident in Alaska. I went home this summer and found them. A few months ago I loaded and shot them, it was a good feeling.

You might look on e-bay to see if there's a good starter kit, or someone has everything together.

If you're real tight on money, start with a turret press (much easier than most single stages). I typically would recommend a progressive for pistol (Hornady L-n-L, Dillon).

Read the sticky for newbie reloaders at the top of the page. There's some books suggested. Acquire a couple of those books either through buying them or through a library. Read the books. Then you'll be ready to start planning on buying some reloadig equipment.

Dave

I agree with Dave. Read a couple of books. Then you will have a better idea which way you want to go when it comes to purchasing equipment...:)

I have been reading up on reloading and planning on starting to buy equipment in a month or two. Right now I have my money going to bills and obtaining an m14 and a start of a m40.

Heck, I have bought guns just because I had some components or dies laying around in a particular caliber for which I don't own a firearm. It would be cheaper to buy the reloading equipment than the gun to fire the loaded rounds!
