Wait...327 Federal in a Rifle forum? Yep. Used my first bonus check from work to pay off layaways on a 327 Federal Henry Big Boy steel rifle & one of the Lipsey's exclusive GP100 7 shot blued "retro" revolvers.

Out of the box first impressions on both:

The GP100 has the smoothest double action trigger of any of the Rugers in my house with the exception of my fiancee's 327 LCR (DAO). The single action pull has a touch of gritty take up but breaks cleanly enough thereafter. Not enough to bother me.

The retro Roper-ish grips feel great though they have a little bit of play. My SP101 factory grips have exactly the same thing. I don't forsee it being an issue for me either, but I thought I'd let the internet know.

The Henry action feels smoother than any Marlin or Mossberg I've fiddled with lately, but maybe not quite as smooth as some other Henrys I've handled (the All Weather 45-70 that almost followed me home comes to mind...damn that action was slick...).

The wood to metal fit of the very nice walnut furniture is flawless.

Like the revolver, the trigger has a little bit of gritty takeup, but on the whole it's fine. I have no doubt things will slick up with use and if I don't ultimately find it 100% satisfactory, everything I've heard about Henry customer service leaves me with zero concern I'll be taken care of.

So far, very happy with my purchases. For about $1350 all in, I think they'll be a lot of fun at the range & in the woods for Pennsylvania Whitetail this fall.
