Yesterday, I picked up a new .38 Special snub. It's a Taurus UL "Multi Alloy" and it's definitely one of my most beautiful revolvers. The cylinder and barrel shroud are titanium and the frame is alloy, giving the pistol a beautiful "two-tone" appearance. It's been sitting here beside me all morning. (Every now and then, I glance over and "take a peek".) I wonder how Taurus makes titanium look like this? The titanium parts are a beautiful and SMOOTH dark gray. Far more handsome than any other titanium parts I've seen. Incredibly, it's a "more perfect" pistol than my older 731UL. I've looked at the ejector star at the rear of the cylinder with my magnifying glass about half a dozen times in an attempt to find an inconsistency~There IS NONE. It's just perfect! (This is one of the times I wish I had a real computer so I could post a picture.) Additionally, I very much like the stainless steel hammer and trigger. *One of the things I like about Taurus is the fact that they are striving to manufacture a better product and not just cranking out pistol after pistol with the same problems. My own gun shop owner told me yesterday that there is a VAST difference between the Taurus of ten years ago and the Taurus of today.
I've done the "Jim March Revolver check" on this new Taurus about four times now. This light little snubbie comes out perfect and tight every time. My "pet peeve" regarding titanium pistols has always been the cylinder to forcing cone gap. On my new Multi Alloy, the gap is consistent on all five charging holes. All!
If you're "on the fence" and need a new, lightweight, .38 Special caliber snub for concealed carry...take a look at the Taurus UL Multi-Alloy. You just might be surprised at how nice it is. Oh, one more thing. I hid my new Multi-Alloy in the safe last night. Not because I was afraid my wife would find out I had purchased another pistol, but because I just knew as soon as she saw it, she'd say~"Can I have that one"? I may just give it to her anyway. :) I believe she'd like the looks of the Multi even better than her Total Titanium. (And she absolutely LOVES that one.) I think I see "her own" safe in the future.

KR, I recently picked up (and paid for!) a "standard" 85UL. I am very impressed by this gun. It is well finished, the fit is tight, and it shoots exactly to point of aim- in tight groups. I changed the trigger spring to a slightly lighter Wolf spring, and the little revolver is my buddy now.

With my wife's current illness and Louisville's sudden lack of an indoor range, I haven't gotten a chance to try out the Multi Alloy yet, however I know a Police Officer who keeps one on his ankle and is VERY impressed with the accuracy.
