I would recommend the marlin 7000. I have both a bull barrel 10/22 and the marlin. The marlin is just as accurate as the ruger and is a heck of a lot cheaper. The marlin also has a bull barrel but it is a smaller diameter than the .920 barrels used on the rugers. This makes the marlin balance well and not feel front heavy. You can order the marlin from walmart for about $160. I use to own the savage 64 which was also a nice little rifle for the money, but the marlin would out shoot it. Mark

Marlin. I have an old Coast to Coast Marlin rifle that shoots and shoots. I believe its Born date is sometime in 1975. I have 0 idea as to how many bricks have been through it. Mags inexpensive and abundant. Good Luck. I enjoy shooting this than any other pistol/rifle I have (shotgun is the exception, but I can shoot for longer with this and cheaper). Good Luck, Mike

This is a really really nice 22 rifle. Made of walnut and steel...fells like a real rifle, not a toy made of cast pot metal and crappy birch or black plastic. It has a lifetime warranty and is deadly accurate. No external magazines to fool with or lose...it is slim and carrys well in the hands.

(did I mention that it was designed by John Browning?)

Spend a little more than you would on a Marlin or Remington semi-auto and get something you'll be proud of.
