I was teaching the lecture portion of my First Steps Pistol class with my lawschool chums being the students, mind you we are doing this at one of their apartments, they are members of a distinct club that exists at many schools all over the nation, the Federalist Society. We had the guy who argued for Heller(the plaintiff's attorney) at our school thanks to them. They are a usual collection of odd-out-moderates and conservatives. All good people looking to get informed, get their permtis, and get armed.

My association with the gun shop I was supposed to be working for as their exclusive NRA intsructor has yet to come about, it still isn't open, it still isn't stocked and the owner isn't able to meet because of his schedule, which is fine I've completed three classes(including range time) with a total of fifty people, and have another one in a couple of weeks. Need some time away from the range to avoid lead poisoning, even with the respiratory protective gear I wear(got one rated against fiberglass and industrial paint thinner fumes, so it should work against the lead) and latex gloves.

When we finished up someone mentioned an idea. We had been talking about reaching out to the public to educate people better, about 'Heller', 'Nordyke', and other cases going to the SCOTUS that are pertinet, and mix it with the NRA course, and do it as a free course. The people who attend won't get the credit for their CWP, but it'll allow newbs and yet-to-bes to get a good bit of education on safety(like many of us feel they need) at the range, history, politics, and also get familiar with their fellow gun lovers and owners. It'd turn into a five hour lecture, and me and my Federalist Society cohorts could do it twice a month at the local library where we can do it for free.

It's an idea, and should some of the folks want to take my class at a later date...Well, there'd be more folks with CWPs and that's never a bad thing. Plus it might help to motivate more folks to get their NRA memberships, I can sell NRA memberships.
