Liberals Slam Harper on Gun Control
September 18, 2006
The Liberal Opposition blasted Prime Minister Stephen Harper today over his government’s plan to weak gun laws in Canada in the wake of last week’s shootings at Montreal’s Dawson College.
“Last week all Canadians were shocked by the tragic events at Dawson College in Montreal,” said Opposition Leader Bill Graham during the first Question Period for the fall session of Parliament. “While the tragic and needless loss of life has saddened us all, it has also strengthened the resolve of Canadians that a permissive gun culture must never take root in Canada.”
“The Prime Minister said last week that this is not the time to discuss gun control in this country” Mr. Graham said. “Does the Prime Minister realize that now is not the time to weaken gun laws in Canada, as he wants to do?”..................................
