So one of my local gun shops had a pile of project guns for me this weekend. most are going out to parts however there was a JC Higgins 308 ( Husky improved Mauser) bolt action rifle with a bad stock and broken bottom metal.
The bottom metal is no problem to replace as any commercial 98 Mauser bottom metal will work as well as the action screws.
The biggest problem is going to be finding a stock for it. I could use a large ring Mauser stock and fill in with bedding material.
However I would like to find something that fits it properly. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I have heard that Boyds will make a stock for you if you send your rifle into them to pattern has anybody had any luck with this?
