A Question on Durability

CWL,
Nowhere did I say or imply the Glock frame, or any other polymer frame, will crumble to dust anytime soon. It won't.
You & both know that there's a substantial difference between such a polymer frame merely looking and feeling solid to outward appearances, and actually retaining enough structural integrity to withstand the various directional stresses and loads imposed during the process of firing a bullet.
I know about the VP70, Taylor's 17, and I know about mine which is still running fine at the ripe old age of 20. :)
The workable lifespan is unknown, isn't measured in weeks, months, decades, or ultimate round count, but the fact remains that any plastic (and polymers fall within the general category of plastics) do immediately begin to degrade. The formula and exposure to certain things such as sunlight and/or UV can affect the degradation rate, but cannot stop it entirely.
If you can motivate your engineers that do the heavy work to give me any kind of a precise Glock (or Ruger, or Taurus, or any other polymer frame formulation) frame lifespan, I would certainly not be the only Glock owner interested. :)
If you can even give me a ballpark figure within 20 years, that'd be close enough. :)
Denis
