It's near impossible to get a NYC carry permit, there are no gunstores other than a couple near 1PP, nor ranges other than the Police range or if the one in Nassau County is still open, Nassau County range, anyone who says you can get a "Carry Permit easily", has no idea what they are talking about. I had mine strictly because I carried a lot of cash late at night.
I only knew 2 other guys who actually had a NYC carry like I did. And I had a very large business. I still have my old permit in the gun safe as a memory of what a pain it the ass it was to get.
It took an entire year of FBI and local checks, a series of 3 interviews, and letters of character reference form professional people including Detectives, and an FBI agent.
Also my bank had to verify all of my financials ,along with a letter from my accountant. I am sure it didn't get easier than it was back then, so don't mislead the man. You have to leave the 5 Borough's in order to even FFL a shotgun to another state, I have done it recently so I know first hand.
I remember a gun shop on Hempstead Turnpike in Uniondale and I think the range on Lindberg Blvd. is open. Hell, when I was a kid that range was Mitchell Field an Air Force Base. The Nassau County PD did have a range at one time over near what was Lawrence Road Jr. High School close to a county dump. Man that was some years ago. A few years ago I know the gun shop was still there.
