I think you passed your sanity check with those sodbusters. I am a Sodbuster fan. I have an original case sodbuster jr that I carried for years when I was a teen. I bought this large sodbuster liner lock a few years ago. A very nice design, and a good-looking knife.

I agree. I have a few expensive knives, but most of my daily use knives, which I use for everything and probably abuse, are all under $50 and made in the USA.
But then, I carry a plastic gun, so I’m more into function and form over beauty or cost.
Lasher is a tool maker in S. Africa known for their simple durability and their commitment to local sourcing. They started as a shovel company before WWII and are now the only tool company there using only local materials, steel included. In a S. African market filled with Chinese imports, they're unique. If you need a machete you won't do much better than a Lasher.
