Here is a wierd idea, remember Kel-Tec KSG and UTS-15?
Yeah, first there are some things i want to point out.
UTS-15 malfunctions a lot, a lot of miss feed. It's ejection port is not Leftie friendly, and the tubular magazine is so exposed, it's bound to be jammed with dirt or any fouling.
Kel-Tec KSG has this "not pumping" thing, but really you just have to slam the pump all the way back as you rack it to reload. And it doesn't have that alternating feature as the UTS-15.
Kow about the SRM-12xx (04/08/12/16)? basically that rotating tubular magazine. What if it could be program to rotate with every shot, to "alternate" and allow continuous shooting.
Now finally the idea. What if we marry all of the advantages of the UTS-15 and KSG, as well as eliminate their disadvantages and issues;
- Windowed holes to peer to the magazines.
- No longer misfeeds
- unified ejection and insertion port.
- etc.
Basically it looks like the UTS-15 with alternating feed and everything, but it has the feeding and ejection feature of the KSG, namely the unified ejection/insertion that is ambidextrous, and none of the problem.
But wait, there's more; what if the tubular magazines are that of the SRM? namely the tubular magazines are rotary, which rotates and alternates as it feeds. The shotgun has now twin rotary tubular magazines. Supposed that we give each tube the same capacity; 7. That is ((7 * 4) * 2), now the shotgun is now capable of 56 rounds, and there are two separate options of feeding; left/right rotary magazine, and rotate/non-rotating action.
So, not only you can alternate and automatically rotate the tube, you can also cut off one rotary tube, and prevent the automatic rotation of the tube. Allowing you to be able to selectively use to at least only one of the tubes, just as the normal gig.
This is a crazy idea i know, and you're better off with a drum magazine than that. But that's just an idea.
