When writing both State and Federal Reps I have began to print a picture of myself with my 3 year old Granddaughter on the page. Emails and phone calls in my opinion need to be followed up with a written letter. I think pictures of us with our families helps to humanize us showing that we are not a bunch of cammo clad zealots but parents who love our kids and would not support legislation that would endanger them. Ink jet pictures on plain paper I believe are best as they don't add weight which might make an envelope look suspecious.

That's one of the recommendations that congress.org makes in their letter writing tutorial.

Including something personal about yourself is also recommended.

An excellent suggestion. I didn't include a picture of myself when I wrote numerous letters to my Congress critters but I definitely see the value of humanizing and adding attachment to said voters.
