I was a 1911 guy (and Browning 1935) from the mid 60s until 1990 when I bought a Glock 17 and found out you couldn't kill it, it was accurate enough and fast to get into play with no manual safties . In the early 2000s , after 2001 I became interested in the Beretta 92 service pistol and had trainers from LAPD SWAT school me in it ! I really had no interest in Sig other than the P210-5 target pistol I had bought 10 years before and knew it was exceptionally accurate and exceptionally lame with heel clip mag release and 8 round capacity like a WW2 Walther P38. I did like the decocker angle tho. I bought a Tangfolio Witness Compac in .40 and it is a real tank and nice and a CZP01 that was so nice my daughter in law ran off with it (with my Blessing) .
So I had the opportunity to buy as new in box Tritium sighted Stainless Sig P239 in .40 with extra 9mm barrel and many mags from the Monterey PD Detective Bureau for cheap , $500 each . I went thru a few and picked the best one and it was very smooth. I put Hogue aluminum grips on it and stripped it and figured how to install the SRT kit in it . I Bought an IWB Galco holster and a Paddle holster for it and everyday carried it from around 2014- 2020 . It was incredibly smooth DA and the SRT kit made the SA pop and it handled wonderfully for me , very accurate and the older I got the safer I felt with the Decocker ! At 28 .oz or so it wasn't that heavy for a .40 S&W and smooth like a bar of soap in the SAS version .I started to like Sigs !
In 2017 I bought a Nitron P226r in .357 Sig and fell in love with the incredible performance and relatively soft recoil . Extremely reliable, I have yet to have a jam of any sort. I bought a .40S&W barrel , which drops right in and I already reloaded for .40 S&W. I bought a second slide with 9mm threaded barrel for it and the hi cap 9mm mags work great ! What versatility !
In 2020 I bought a late 90s German made P220 in .45 as new in box and marvelled at the smooth trigger pull, and it was just thinner and lighter than the P226 to pack IWB , tho I came to prefer other ways to carry it . The P220 and P226R both fit same holsters , with no light on the rail of the P226R.
I had Simply Rugged Leather make me their Cuda Holster , actually two Cudas , one on their "Chesty Puller" chest rig and one with double mags pouches on their "Man's leather belt " . I wanted to Mount a Red Dot optic on the P226 to seize its long range capability in .357 Sig . I did not want to have the slide machined and be stuck with it when I switched calibers so installed the
MEPRO MicroRDS: Red Dot Micro Sight with a Holosun 507K. I also converted both the P220 and the P226r to E2 grip upgrade.
In 2022 I had a chance to get Gray Guns "go thru" both guns with their ELS trigger system adding the SRT and fat struts and guide rods . They replaced lots of springs and pins ect and polished every thing that needed polishing and fitting to blueprint + specs. I now have two slicked up pistols with almost matching 6 pound DA and 3 pound SA short reset triggers with minimal take up and overtravel ! They run like watches ! I can draw the old P220 .45 and clean a rack of plates VERY quickly.
My latest purchase last year is a Sig PXten and am working on that, Gray Guns trigger , and a Holosun 509T on a C&H plate with red Chevron , Olight Baldor S lazer/light on the rail and Angry Bear dayglo green Tall iron sights to low cowitness in the Red Dot . Talon Rubber grip overlay really helped me with recoil sting. I have Gray Guns Mag well System and extended +4 19 round GrayGun mag extensions. Rob Leahy made me a holster to go on my Chesty Puller rig and a double Mag pouch and a light / mag pouch . I don't have pictures of the Xten right now, here are the others tho:
