A Taurus PT145 followed Me home today!

I've owned two of the PT-145s. First one I owned was the Millenium Pro DAO version with three dot sights. Sold the DAO version to finance another handgun purchase, and regretted it almost immediately. Went and bought another PT-145 about 4 weeks ago, this one is the newer SA/DA version with Heinie sights. I like the trigger on the newer version a whole lot better. The straight eight sights take some getting used to, but now that I've put a couple hundred rounds through mine I'm finding the straight-eights are easy to work with.
Both versions of the PT-145 Millenium Pro I've owned have been 100% reliable. The DAO trigger on the first pt-145 I owned was tough for me, and the latest SA/DA version fits me perfectly. I'm finding (and found) that the trigger break becomes smoother with time.
I own mostly poly-framed pistols. I prefer poly.
As for fit and finish- I think the stainless-slide version of the PT-145 I owned previously was a little nicer, the blue version has some sort of gold undercoat, and I'm not real confident that the blue will hold up well under a lot of holster wearing- but time will tell. By no means is the finish flawless, but I feel the gun is reliable and that's more important to me.
The trigger pull takes getting used to. When the trigger breaks, it BREAKS. Surprise can be good though. Trigger is stiff and heavy at first, but it really smoothes out with time and rounds down range.

How is the shootability of the poly-Tauri? I'd be curious to know the quality of the fit & finish and the trigger pull...

I own the DAO version with the rail, circa 2004, so I cannot speak on the DA/SA trigger. The DAO trigger is about what you'd expect, but fit and finish are excellent. They are very nice to shoot and fit the hand better than, say, a Glock 30, in my opinion.

I've been carrying a PT-145 Millennium Pro for a couple of years and several thousand rounds now. I take all my favorite guns to the range to shoot then and once done pull the PT out of the pocket and shoot at least 3 mags worth every time I go. I can double tap with ease. Accuracy is great and its easily controllable even in rapid fire mode. If they came and took all my other guns and left me with onthing but my Taurus.....I would feel totally secure it the guns ability. Several of my friends have shot my little hand cannon and they now all three own one as well. Hmmmm mabey I should get some kind of birddog fee from Taurus :D .

It seemed nicer in my hand than my Keltec 9mm does. I hope it is as trusty. It sure feels more like a gun (haha). The Keltec has been what I carry when I can't carry a "real gun".

Good Choice!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pick up a Para Ord 14 round magazine for the PT145. It's fun to watch the looks people give as your "little" .45 shoots 15 times.
Do they make extended capacity magazines for the pt111?

Finall put some rounds through it

Well I finally went and put about 150 rounds through it, have a total of 7 FTF. 6 of them were with remington UMC and the other was with magtech ammo. 2 of them (one of each type) fired on the second triger pull. All of the rest of the Remington UMC (5) only fired when put through a sig.

High Noon Holsters

As far as a holster for these go: I ordered one from High Noon. I love their stuff.

Thanks Kamicosmos.
I ordered a holster just a minute ago. Just what I had been looking for, in stock and on SALE! Looking forward to getting it. :)

Been curious about em for a while. Might just need one. Whats it like compared to the 24/7? Hmm.......

I'm not sure if it would work but try a Para Ord P18 magazine. I discovered the P14 mag worked by accident. If the mag dimensions are the same between the PT145, PT111 and the P14 and P18 - you should be good to go.

Where is the best place to get one?

These don't have a decoker, right? Are the SA/DA models safe to carry chambered/safety off?

If I were to carry one of the SA/DA models it would be with the safety on.
Folks who carry the older DAO model tend to report doing it safety off.

Even though the DAO is as safe as a revolver, I still carry my 745 with safety on. That'd be because I tend to have it vanished into a Smartcarry when wearing cargo jeans, and where it's aimed when riding there. :uhoh:

Mine's a PT-140 (not a 145) but still a happy new member of the Mil-Pro club.

Mine is a 2'nd gen model with a "Y" in the serial number, Millennium Pro on one side of the slide and just the model number on the other side of the slide. (Translation: It has the long DAO trigger not the DA/SA and I'm glad because I wanted a DAO).

I was initially going to CCW my XD-40 service model then I decided I wanted something a little smaller. Bought the PT-140 and got it home and said to myself, "hey, this isn't THAT much smaller", but quickly realized that 1" shorter with a 1" shorter grip is actually a LOT smaller where CCW is concerned. :D

Man that 10'th round is a BEAR to get into the magazine!

PT-140 Pro

Another happy millenium pro owner here.:D Mine is a PT-140 Pro that I have owned since Jan '06. I've put over 1000 rounds through it, ZERO malfunctions.:D I have the DAO version, which I actually prefer. The trigger was stiff at first, but after 500 rounds, it really smoothed out. This gun is accurate, reliable, has great ergonomics, and it was priced right, $350 out the door. I bought the stainless version because I wanted to durability of the finish for CCW purposes. This gun rides nice in an IWB holster. I would have complete confidence in this gun, if my life ever depended on it. Taurus has a real winner in this gun!

A little update about my PT145.

The P14 mags don't work real well for me. I seem to wind up pushing on them with a finger or palm, and it either makes the rounds not feed, or it jams up. So, I can't use those. Maybe with some kind of spacer to fill the gap. They do fit in the gun just fine though.

(Ironically, I picked up a SA 1911-A1 GI Hi-Cap a few weeks back. It uses the same P14 mags! So, at least they weren't wasted! :D :D )

Second point: I'm still getting lots of light strikes, on the order of as frequently as every other round! I have tried WWB, S&B, and PMC. Gun has at least 300 rounds through it at this point. I am going to load up some Federal-primed handloads for it next to see if it will strike those consistantly. If not, it might be Factory time, or trade/sell it. Which is sad, cause I really love the gun, but I refuse to carry a gun that won't go off every time....
