Purchased a Taylor 1873 Outlaw Legacy blue engraved .45(LC) with 4.75 inch barrel. Very pleased with the gun. Have yet to shoot it.

QUESTION: It is described as having ivory handles. More accurately, "synthetic ivory" handles. Can anybody tell me what the actual material might be ?

I'm no expert and other disclaimers although I do own a pair of actual ivory grips for one of my 1911s. I think the term "synthetic ivory" covers a multitude of options from the apparently excellent material described above to simple white plastic. One material I have read about but not seen in person is real ivory bits and pieces reduced to fine particles and then bonded with a polymer base. I don't know what Taylor uses. Might be worth a call to them for an accurate description. When I Google the OP's pistol, Taylor's website says "white polymer" grips.
