No, not the elections, that's later. This is a change in my life, and with comes a little spending money and time to relax slightly before heading off towards new goals. I have tossed around the idea of getting an FAL for years, swore several times I would do it when windfalls came my way...and never did. I told me wife today, "Well, I really can't figure out a good enough reason to spend the money, so I guess I won't get it." She said, "Yes, you will."
To make a long story short, I think this is what I want, bare bones basic, the mid length at 18 inches of barrel. It's pricey, even as a base model.

To the FAL savvy, what upgrades/changes do you deem vital to an FAL? If everything goes absolutely correct, I might have a little wiggle room for extras.
