Today was my first chance to bowhunt this season. Saw a doe and 2 yearlings on my way in, still dark but clear with some moon and ambient light 1 hour before sunrise. Legal shooting time was 1/2 hour before sunrise or 6:36am. at 6:50 arrowed a 7pt buck that dropped less than 20 yards further. (Field dressed 145lbs) had a doe come past before I could climb down then saw a 6 pt and 2 other does before leaving the woods.
I tried some new camo with the carbon 60 Scent Shield. The buck had crossed downwind within 40 yards before hooking in. no ground scent or attractors and I forgot my grunt tube in the truck. Shot him with my Mathews Legacy and gold tip carbon arrow with 100gr muzzy. I want to shoot one more for the freezer before I start hunting on the ground with my longbow and cedar shafts with zwickey black diamonds.

great job! arrowing a buck sure is a good time! i haven't made it out for archery just yet... hoping to find a few minutes somewhere, though!

Congrats!

Our archery deer season starts October 15th and I am itching to go.

I killed a bear in Maine with the bow in early September and have just been counting the days till deer season.

I hope your luck continues.

Good hunting!

My 21 year-old son, and the 12 year-old are out with their bows today.

I'm fighting a cold, or something, and couldn't go.
