I suggest contacting any representative that you believe could cosponsor this bill. As well as GOA, NRA and the NYSRPA.

I would highly recommend that any THR member who lives in NYS write or email their Assemblyman and Senator and ask them to get on board and co-sponsor any legislation that changes NYS law to a "shall carry" state.

I Love the Sound of this-

But it seems like it may be effectively tabled, at least unless we generate enough of a groundswell-

From the State website -
A06187 Actions:

BILL NO A06187

02/26/2009 referred to codes
01/06/2010 referred to codes

"Codes" sounds like "Dead letter office"

See the Bills Page..

I hate to say its old news but maybe we can breath some new life into it.
Seems like the bill has been kicking around and reintroduced from time to time only to never make it out of committee.

Hell I even wrote the sponsors and cosponsors last March only to never get a reply.
The corresponding Senate bill is listed under S 3478.

Have a look: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=435140

For what it worth I had also sent the info to the NRA and the NRA news in hopes of them getting behind the bill. The crickets are still chirping....

NYS will never sign on to that. It is the most poorly managed, closed minded state in the US. I am glad that i will be moving to a state that is so opposite from NY and yet so close in proximity that its astonishing they are in the same country. I am of course talking about the coveted NH.

Westchester Co. NY GOA Lawsuit...

MrReynolds -

I looked on the GOA website but could find no reference to the lawsuit you noted in your letter - could you be so kind as to point to it?

I am in Westchester Co....

I happy to see that my assemblywoman is one of the co-sponsors! Unfortunately, I agree that it has zero chance of passing with good ole Shelley Silver at the helm of the Assembly.

By itself probably not, however right about now is when every one of us should be supporting this bill, regardless of where you live. I made this little piece of news available to the guys at my gun club and I posted it on my Facebook and MySpace page along with contact information. Let's do our parts, support NY and make it into a state we don't need to shy away from.
