Well with the price of ammo & being to cheap to buy a dedicated upper, I did something I thought I would never do. I bought a .22 Conversion kit for the AR, with BDM Mags.

I think this will be a fun plinker, It was either that or a 10/22 & I figured I would not be happy with the 10/22 until I dropped $500 upgrading it. This way I can still get a dedicated upper as $$$$$ allows.

My question is about the gas tube. Do you guys that have these run some full power 5.56 through to blow out the tube after you shoot .22lr? Is there really any thing to worry about?

I am not looking to bullseye shoot with this set up, I only need minute of soda can.

That's what the manufacturers usually recommend, just shoot a .223 or two after every range session. Personally, I'd run a single .223 through after every 100 rounds or so of .22, just to keep it from blowing everything out at once.

Minute of pop can should be no problem out to 25 yards. Maybe even 50 depending on your specific barrel, etc.

That's all I need......Thanks.....Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go.

You said "POP Can" not Soda, you got to be a Yinzer. I myself am a Transplant from Baldwin.

I live juuuuust far away enough from Pittsburgh that "yinz," "slippy," "warsh," etc., aren't heard too often. CarNEGie is pronounced the right way, though, and the Steelers are indeed the only football team in the world. And if the name of a store ends in 's, it's not going to be pronounced. "Boscov," "Cabela," etc.

Oh, another trick for low-maintenance cheap ammo, put a single round of brass-cased .223 at the bottom of each mag of steel-cased ammo. One round out of every 30 is enough to scrape out your chamber without stressing the extractor.
