Definately looks like something Doc Holliday might carry. Pretty cool.

Nice. I'd go with Burl Mahogany grips with something like that.

That's definitely a gun in search of a barbecue!

Playboy, I can't see you living WITHOUT a matched pair of those :)

Yeah, definately IVORY, engraved with a Penguin

Two of them......Mother of pearl grips......in a display case.......over MY fireplace....

Sorry PBP......

Almost 2 Grand for a :barf: Ruger. :what:

Proof positive that Americans are dumb enough to buy anything and that a whole lot of them have just too much money.

Hmmmm... Not sure that one can have too much money but I am sure that any money spent on a Ruger is too much (and I've got two of the darn things :banghead: )

Umm...but you get two Rugers...

I think the price is reasonable.

I got a couple of those at an engraver up in Alaska. Waiting for him to finish the grips. One gun with ebony wood and one with white mountain sheep horn. Going to work on getting a set of ivory when I actually get the guns.

Hate to make it worse

Playbeoy, I hate to make it more expensive, but what I meant to say was CARVED, not engraved :) But engraved like your FIL's gun would be cool too. A Playboy Penguin :)

That's $1950 for TWO Engraved Rugers with sequential serial numbers.

On a side note--are they phasing out the original Vaquero? I don't keep really close track, but it looks like the caliber selection on the original Vaquero has shrunk significantly since the last time I looked at the Ruger site... :(

Whew! I sure am glad I get two $350 guns for two grand :what:

I have a single action ruger revolver and it is a good gun...for the price. Ruger does not make a single "collector" quality firearm.

It's been awhile since you bought a new Ruger...

The stainless New Vaqueros are going for between $460 and $500 WITHOUT engraving.

Whether or not you like engraving, it's going to increase the cost. 50% coverage simple engraving will probably run over $900. Ruger's charging about $500 for what looks like 50% or more coverage. It's a pretty good deal if that sort of thing appeals to you. They're selling you the gun for about what it would cost just to have it engraved if you sent it off to someone.

If it doesn't appeal to you, it doesn't. But just because embellishment isn't your thing doesn't mean that it's a ripoff.

OMG-:what: Did Ruger actually dispense with the billboard on the side of the barrel?? What is the world coming to? I think I'd rather send my Vaquero's off to an engraver rather than pony up that much dinero.

Checked out the prices on engraving lately? I doubt you'll save much unless you go with less engraving coverage.

John,

Rugers are the low end items in the single action revolver world and any "value" is found in their usefulness or price point.

Putting cosmetic embellishments on a value line gun is like putting 10K dollar rims on a $2,000 car.

Rugers are good reliable guns but they are cheaper than their competition for a reason.

FYI, used mint condition Ruger single action revolvers are $350 in my area all day long and usually much cheaper depending on model or caliber. Just saw a really nice blackhawk in 41 mag sell for $225 a couple of weeks ago.

I'm normally not much for engraved or otherwise 'decorated' firearms, but these look really nice. :)

Guess I wouldn't mind having a pair, and some 'cowboy' leather so I could carry them Lone Ranger style.

And they're 'inexpensive' enough that you could still shoot them with a clear conscience, and the stainless would hold up well, of course.

I like 'em. :)
