Abrasive Grip Tape

I'm looking for a tape with an abrasive surface to put on the front strap of my cheapo Springfield Armory 1911.

Just use a piece of stair tape.

That is what I've used. Take the grips off, cut it long enough to fit under the grips when you put them back on and it will last for years.

I went to my local zumiez skate shop and got a sheet of their least abrasive grip tape for something like 5 bucks. It's a lot better value than the 3m stuff I found.

Stair tape.
Bathtub tape.
Skateboard tape.
A strip of emery cloth clamped under the grips.

My local lumber yard had the usual grit tapes for ladder and stair treads, but what I bought was a 3M product with a nubbly rubber surface. A good grip and no worry about loose grit in the works.

+1 on skate tape. it is plenty grippy, but far less abrasive than the stair grip they sell at lowes.

I bought a roll of step tape at Menard's or Lowe's years ago. Use is for all 1911s and other gun uses. Gave lots to friends, and still have a lot left.
Easy to replace when it gets messes up or loses grip.
