I also stopped at Academy yesterday and they have a good deal on Youth model 20 G 870. It has a 21 inch barrel for $ 240. I m guessing they are pricing this with their bread and butter model 870 Mag Express 26-28 inch barrels to attract more customers.
Aside from that I get to handle the H and R Pardner Protector 12 G in synthetic stock. Selling for a low $169. Built is excellent and has a slim profile. I like it KISS. No slop on the slide guard. The gun felt really good and the curve receiver felt like a Marlin 30 30 Lever action. It aims naturally too. The guy in the counter said they sell a lot of them and can t even stock in a short period.
Now handling the Mossberg 500 was a quality feel but one thing that i dont like is the slide handle tilts/wiggles to the sides . I understand this is normal with Mossbergs.
