I am planning to go to either Hap Baker or Elk Neck State Forest (in MD) in the next few weeks. 95% of my range trips has been to the NRA HQ range.

I presume that the range provides the target stands but not targets, target staplers and I should get a decent spotting scope. Is there anything else that I am missing?

Thanks.

Public ranges around these parts?

Better assume the crack heads have already stole everything that they can steal & sell as recycle.

A metal target stand wouldn't last two nights!

I carry a folding wood target stand, targets, tape or stapler, etc., just in case.

I"ve spent a lot of time shooting in the middle of nowhere. Sun screen, bug spray, toilet paper, Gorilla tape for the days when the wind blows too hard for the staples to hold, a big bottle of water to wash your hands with after you finish (I used to have this nice car with a cream-colored leather steering wheel), etc.

Oh, and spare shoes in case yours get wet, muddy or just covered in lead dust and unburned powder.

Most of my shooting has been in AZ, CA and TX so my gear list is based around hot and dry. Also, most of my desert shooting has been for rifle so that' s what I'm basing my list on.

Guns, ammo, cooler of drinks and snacks, maybe some portable shade, steel targets, basic tools and shovel and rain gear in case I get stuck or have truck probs (always in the truck), shooting mat, laser rangefinder, spotting scope, ballistic calculator (either hard copy or on phone), weather meter, camp chair for relaxing and spotting.

Lastly my rifle range bag which has the stapler, extra mags, rag, lube and small tools.

Thanks for the advice, I will contact the ranges and see what I need to bring. I know that at Elk Neck, I will need a spotting scope.
